Was looking on line for a local mechanic after wifes 2019 Mazda is no longer covered by free servicing.
Saw one local mechanic and it had the rainbow flag down the bottom of the website saying it was LGBTQI friendly. Really? Is this now an advertising prerequisite?

As an example; if a woman walks into a doctor's surgery tomorrow, and asks about getting her tubes tied, the doctor will most likely deny her request, especially if she's under 45 and has not had a child already. The doctor will refuse the request, not because it's unreasonable, or unethical, but because at some time in the future, she may find herself a husband who wants kids. That's far more important than the woman's quality of life though, right? The possibility that someone else might want to breed with them at an unspecified time in the future. Meanwhile, her same aged, hypothetical, future husband could request a vasectomy right now, and his doctor would allow it, with very little fuss. Yet, (depending on the type of procedure), both surgeries can be reversed if the patient changes their mind down the track...so why do women have to fight for their bodily autonomy, and doctor shop until they find someone willing to even consider it, but men don't? I've experienced similar, asking a specialist to treat me for a condition (let's call it A), while making it very clear that I'm not interested in anything to do with this other related condition (Condition B). They disregard all of that, and want to start me on treatments to fix Condition B anyway, and if it also happens to do something to ease Condition A, then that's a bonus, but not something they're concerned about. The treatment that would likely fix Condition A causes birth defects, and though there isn't a snowflakes chance in hell of me becoming pregnant, they STILL won't allow me to have it. But they WILL give it to men, despite the fact that they could get someone pregnant while on it.

Maybe research 'Dolly the Sheep' and you will see how silly your effort is to put IVF and cloning in the same sentence

Having trouble doing partial Quotes, so I cut and pasted what I wanted.
You state and I quote--"that is not quite what Leesa was saying though" unquote. What are you a mind reader?....or is Leesa sitting next to you discussing all of this! QUOTE I've experienced similar, asking a specialist to treat me for a condition (let's call it A), while making it very clear that I'm not interested in anything to do with this other related condition (Condition B). But they WILL give it to men, despite the fact that they could get someone pregnant while on it...UNQUOTE I have no idea what you have written above means, its just a hotchpotch of letters and numbers.?...I really don't get what it is that Leesa is not saying but you are saying it for her!...I know what she posted I read it! Natural birth, pregnancy = check. Referencing how we've been reproducing for thousands of years, which IVF certainly hasn't = check. Scientific ego crap = check. The technique between IVF and cloning isn't all that different in the context of what you took a shot at. They're both embryos produced in a petri dish by... scientific ego crap. If you want to rant perhaps you should narrow your scope so that you're not misspeaking? In the context of what slowsnake went on blast at, it was pretty reasonable to put them in the same sentence. |

How many men do you know that wouldn't even hold a rainbow flag, lest it somehow make gayness contagious as if before they know it they'll be sucking a dick? I've seen dudes refuse to use pink network cables, and others that don't want to but end up carrying it between thumb and tip of index finger... as if trying to make a statement that the colour is unwanted and we shouldn't think less of them as a man for having to touch it. Some dudes are FRAGILE. Being comfortable enough in themselves to have a rainbow flag at the door, that still says good things impo. edit: oh hey there's maybe a new word for the censor Last edited by leesa; 27-07-2021 at 10:51 AM. |

These days a heterosexual male waving the lgbtqifhde@6+ flag would probably be accused of culture misappropriation.

Yeah it's so bannerist.
Leesa's not stereotyping as she's qualified her statement with 'some men'. btw. SOME men are indeed week as water and are threatened by lots of things. |

There is a thread in the pub about 'psychos in the auto-repair business' where more than one person has mentioned the fragile masculinity in some mechanics as well as how their wives/daughters have been treated.
But because it's me typing it all of a sudden it's not a real thing. Nice. bossxr8 I trust you'll head over to that thread next and reply to them that they're wrong and those things don't exist, yeah? Nah course not. |

If you want to debate it you'll need to answer my question rather than asking me another one. Do you have any experience of using mechanics as a woman? How about as an openly gay (and fabulous) man? Maybe straight-but-clearly-not-mechnically-minded male? Or maybe a minority of any kind? Anything other than a presumably-straight male who dabbles in cars? Just so that I have a point of reference for your perspective.

Being in the game I have been in and out of workshops for sometime and later got into Wholesale and to date.
Obviously got to know alot of Owner Mechanics and a couple close by pretty good mates. I have watched at other mechanical visits how much some of them have ripped off the unassuming male customer hand over fist. So many I shake my head in shame. One of my mates who I have recommended to many male/female, they can't thank me enough dealing with a diligent polite bloke he is to both or how many genders today. There is plenty of dis honest rude operaters, pick a industry for females who can take advantage of the opposite sex ? fashion, cosmetics, floral to name a couple. Get over it please, sadly it goes both ways, humans can't help themselves.

I'm not going to try convince you that women, gay men, non-mechanically-minded men, minorities and others often get spoken down to by some/many mechanics with big egos. You're clearly not open to the possibility and it's triggered you into wanting to argue, but I'm not up for arguing about it. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

If so, that makes you a douche bag. I don't really understand the notion of wanting a sex change, so be it people are free to do whatever makes them happy. Do I understand the whole 'non-binary' "I identify as a tunafish"? Nope - not even one bit and as you say, that's my right. But I still have to give them the courtesy of treating them like a decent human being.
