Give it 5 years and Chinese cars will be equal with Hyundai of today.

They have money, money is the answer to all questions.

How ridiculous is that?
Can be sold in WA but not Vic?
So you can buy it in WA and drive it to Vic on your holidays?
Or do we assume that if you bought it in WA it would have fallen apart by the time you hit Vic?
Maybe they are safe to drive at 3km/h over the speed limit so Victoria have banned them........

Oh and Hyundai started in WA only courtesy of Alan Bond

They'd have to pay ME $11,990 to even get in that thing.

Not to defend the Geely but it works for the Mini and the Yaris.

I remember hearing it's a better solution as you don't have to look away from the road for as long. Would take a while to get used to though.

That's because the mini is a cult car which is mimicking the big speedo in the last of the mini's years ago; and Toyota is Japanese and has all major ethnicities covered on the perceived quality reputation.

Geely being Chinese means that virtually no Chinese people will buy it. Ask around, but all my friends who've come from China say that all Chinese cars are crap.

These cars are here already, I drove past John Hughes on the way to work this morning and saw two of them in his yard.

See many Valiants anymore?

Top post Flappist. Valiant also had the best 6cyl drivetrain in their sector in the 1970's and it still didn't save them. Actually, after driving the new 3.6V6 in a Jeep Grand Cherokee (totally new drivetrain for them and anaemic, nice interior but less space, very lightly weighted steering with some 'wander') in North America recently, I couldn't get back into the Territory fast enough - the 2006 inline 6/ZF combo skittles the new US drivetrain...

We'd be mad to lose the inline 6/ZF, and I just know the Chinese would buy up the tooling. So buy them new if you can!

Lol, not a chance.

The difference is Chinese like to save as much money as possible, so how exactly is money the answer?

More junk that only fools would buy. You can get near-new "real" cars for the same price these days anyway, so this will be another flop like Great Wall is.

I agree, I think the car will grow on people…

I’ve written up a new sales pitch for it. Please everyone, let me know what you think and if Mr Geely is watching this, I work relatively cheap.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the new 2011 Geely, discover the harmony between the interior and exterior and appreciate the skilled craftsman who painstakingly toil over perfect paint, panel alignment and an overall finish of high quality, second to none. Take note of the smooth flowing lines that extenuate the bold imposing grill with the beautifully designed headlights that not only illuminate your path to safety, but also provide a window to the car’s soul.

Form follows function and with the all new ever powerful re-generatively cooled, liquid-propellent engine of the variable thrust type that can operate on either a single or dual-propellant basis providing ample power to get to any of your important functions, in record time.

Whether you’re heading across a salt flat for your second high speed timed run or picking the children up from school, you just can’t go past the all new 2011 Geely. When safety is concerned, nothing is as important to us as a total felling of security for our valued customers and you’ll feel the same when travelling in total safety thanks to 46 airbags, 34 side intrusion panels and 16 crumple zones that make high end German marques look on with complete awe.

That’s perfectly normal to feel this way. This car inspires you to vomit just a little bit, get it stuck in your throat and have to swallow it again.

There’s not a lot of cars on the market that are able to make a perfectly healthy person feel this way.

the thing with the safetycrash photo being shown here to be laughed at, that could be any car depending on what speed it was. people ride on scooters and dont get killed. i think the people that buy this car will accept its not as safe as a volvo, but neither is an el falcon that so many people on this forum drive and then slate the chinese cars. i bet my money there are more deaths each year in falcons then any korean cars, just because of the type of people that drive the falcon. so many people choos to buy second hand cars, and classic cars, they dont realise their 1960s GT falcon would score 0 on any modern safety standard and the chinese car will score higher. MOST MODERN 4WD UTITIES HAVE SIMILAR CRASH TEST PHOTOS, and cant even score 2 star safety ratings, why arent people making fun of them? probably because they are driving them to work tomorrow morning.

Reminds me of this, instructions from a Chinese compression tester.
1) The battery is fully charged to so as to ensure the speeds of the first air cylinder and the last air cyliders are unaminous.
2) Temperature must reaches to be otherwise it is useless to the engine, then shut off the engine
3) Wear protection mirror, whose name is spark plug thing not dirty lose sucking, So as not to block the piston and not cause minimum identification mistake
4) Rotate spark plug and valve
5) Open the throttle of the piston or angry valve and gate valve
6) Method that the disconnecting lighter uses.

Its probably worth noting with the Geely, its unlikely the owner of such a car will ever be in a position to make that particular use of said back seat anyway.

That's fantastic. What's the angry valve and why hasn't my engine got one?
Wear a protection mirror?

Gotta love the chinese translations.

Chinese people only want a car with "status" so that rules out their home grown brands.
