Fraud/Theft: What can be done?

Seeking legal advice would be the first port of call. Knowing where you stand and what direction to take from a legal aspect is what I would do. ID theft can leave your crippled for years if you don't snuff it out now.

Have filed an official complaint and statement with local police. The shocking thing is the police themselves, by their own admission say they have no power to investigate this further if the bank chooses to just claim it on insurance. This is a very common thing apparently and very few if none are actually caught. The police have no power to search his property, look through mobile phone records, even if all evidence points to said individual, unless he actually murdered someone. This was told to me by a senior constable.

Just makes me sick , and being a business owner, I really have better things to do than talk to liars and attend court hearings and whatever formalities arise in a court case. To me that time wasted visiting a suit and tie and a bloke dressed up in a stupid costume called a Judge, and probably be faced with a toothless legal system in all aspects apart from 'road safety', is lost income that I doubt the court or police would even consider.
