Lots of talk about VPNs in here, I don't use those, however I do have a DNS sinkhole set up to block trackers - could be my dramas right there for carsales.
It was amazing how often my old 'smart TV' tried to 'phone home' |

The drama with market place is from what I can tell I can’t set my search for nation wide, only a max of 400km radius.
Which is an issue if I’m prepared to buy a car or motorbike from anywhere in the country. Also their search function is absolute trash, type in XR6 Ute etc and nearly every result is anything but. That said I’m all for karma coming to the large price gougers. FB has the potential to kill off the traditional online trading platforms but seem to be sitting on their hands. |

Just trucks and glumtree were once great for that, always had great results on Wanted ads. Just trucks/cars advertising is still back in the 90's. The guy who sold me the working parts truck came all the way over the mountains from Eden to delivery it. Pity there is no yachthub.com type website for cars/trucks here.

It’s still Faceache, they still are trying their darnedest to harvest and monetise whatever they can scrape up about you.
And you can’t pay them not to pry in this way - at least the contract with so-called ransomware is clearer - you pay, they let you go. I’ve considered the effort required to remain genuinely anonymous on FB and it’s too great respective to the “benefits” so I remain a non member. |

I have a list of around half dozen cars and motorbikes I may potentially purchase at some stage this year depending on impulse or if the time is right. How much time will be wasted changing my location everyday to try and find what could be a needle in haystack. That’s before filtering through all the unrelated shit market place returns on each search. |

Doesn’t it also resolve physical location by triangulating Wifi networks, if you allow it.

Its been here for a while. Taken out a mortgage or a decent loan lately? Have a look at the questions they ask . The only thing missing is automated data matching to check if you have been lying....but that's coming. Get excited!

Might source my home loan in a more ethical way than engaging with the finance industry, such as partaking in NDIS rorts

It blocked me from browsing again today, quite a stupid website really. Imagine if Colesworths wanted personal data before you were allowed in to shop.

Question for those with Faceache membership.
Can you filter Marketplace cars by registered or not registered? CarSales just punted me again, I was browsing G63 listings. |
