I'm a pet person too but with a leaning towards cats over dogs. I lost my 14 year old cat about 5 years ago and I still miss him to this day. We had a bond and language all of our own. He was a bit of a doofus at times but he lived like a king.

He was sitting on the bench one day and my Mum walked past wearing a knitted jumper. He was in a bad mood so took a swipe at her as she walked past, his claws got caught on the jumper and he got dragged off the bench onto the floor in a tangle of tail and paws.

When I hooked up with Mrs Ringo she had a 11 year old dog, Mitzi. Mitzi got to 15 but was at the stage where she needed a full time carer because she couldn't eat or toilet without help. We still did that for about 3 months but it was distressing to all and the time came...hardest thing I have ever done because I had to be strong for Mrs Ringo while she fell apart. We have photo's, we have her ashes, we miss her still.

We go giddy when we are out walking around our neighbourhhod and we "meet" a dog or cat....we are a sad sight. Two 30 year old talking "baby talk" to a dog

A puppy and a kitten are on the agenda once we get back from our europe tour later this month.

Back on topic - Sounds like Harley didn't suffer which is something to be thankful for and he probably learned a thing or two about Fords particulalry the seats. And if there is one thing that every cat knows its a comfortable seat!

RIP Harley

Chin up mate, I too am a cat lover. A cat/dog has no prejedists against thier owner when they follow you arond like that. Mine only follow me when they want food! LOL

Aw crap, sad to hear you lost your cat man. We have a cat too, and the whole family has a good relationship with her, she's great. Again, sorry to hear of your loss.

Sorry about your pet. My cat's 11 years of age and I am dreading the day when she moves on. Sure, they're selfish and all, but regardless, you love them just for that.

And you're right. They're irreplaceable.

Let it chill over, even if it takes a year or two.

Sorry to hear of your loss :(

Im gratified to be on this forum and reading the positive comments about pussy cats as Im OVER being involved in the anti-cat scrap fights that often develop in car forums (the ones I usually post in and get the hell out as I know I'll get feisty)

I've always been a cat person and have six of the suckers. You can substitute another pussy cat, but each cat is so darn individual it'll be a whole new experience....whilst a great one not the same as before :(

Strange isnt it....you can marry someone and have your ups and downs with them, but with pussy cats its 100% all the way

sorry to hear about that wayne,

Its worse when its unexpected... a few years ago I lost 2 of my cats to a neighbors rotweiler... the owner didn't fess up, and instead put our cats in his rubbish bin hoping we wouldn't find them... jerks...
Rotwieler has now been destoryed (had a violent history anyway)

Its hard to move on, but life will go on...

Condolences,

I know the feeling when you lose a special friend of the animal kind, I found my cat which had been hit by a car when I was 12 years old and yeah it's a very sad experience least to say. I've got an 8 month old kitten now in my own place and she's gorgeous.

I can understand how many memories you would've had with Harley when working on the car or just kicking in front of the TV the cat would be there too checking out what's going on!

Hopefully if you ever choose to get another cat it'll ease the emotions, but it's never the same as the first one and you can never forget.
