Holden can only sue Toyota if they still have "FJ" trademarked. Trademarks must be re-registered every 5 years. I'm not going to even bother trying to google when Holden let that TM run out.

More importantly though "petrol-only" on the FJ. Straight to the FAIL thread it goes.

What, no diesel? Damn that's a shame, these things need diesel economy/torque to be good.

For anyone older than 30, you might remember the old FJ, a japenese ripoff of the willys jeep was born and a indestructible little truck was loved by many. This is just the modern incarnation of an old brand.

There is no diesel option as the US market isn't a great buyer of diesel vehicles, but the 4L V6 certainly has enough torque. Check out some of the pics in this thread for a real 4WD with all the options of the Prado at 10 grand less and the best approach and departure angles in a stock 4WD http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/w...d/IMG_3769.jpg

Yes it might not be everyones cup of tea but to get such rave reviews from aussie journalists, there must be something worth looking at. I was in the market for a G6ET but now am swayed again with a tough little truck. Blue tooth, Ipod connectivity, reverse camera and nearly two feet shorter than my XR6T ute.

For all the haters of Toyotas hero colours have a good look at yourself, its called marketing, remember when our beloved ford brought out a car in orange and the current focus in green, don't even get me started on the TBC wildtrack ranger.

I have been ford all my life but Toyota reliability and fixed cost servicing for three years, I will let you know as I am test driving one tomorrow.

And I will have one in black please.....

Holden never used "FJ" as a model designation. The real model designation was 48-215. The FJ was later adopted after the "FX" model was released.

Other way round mate. The 48-215 was later nicknamed the FX after the FJ was released.

Just came back from a test drive of the new FJ and have to say its very impressive.
Sure, the styling isnt for everyone, but for anyone else who, like myself, likes things a little different to the norm, its certainly makes its mark.

Straight out of the box, its 'offroad capable', difflocks, traction control, and a heap of other things that will help you get anywhere.
Around town, its smooth, responsive and doesnt drive like the 2 ton tank it is.
Inside, its pretty comfy and the position of everything is well thought out.
Seats are comfy and will easily soak up the long Km's or rough terrain.

If your in the market for a new 4WD, at least give it a test drive before you write it off.
I know what my next car is going to be.

Why ? It is Fords trademark, Don`t forget Ford tried to buy Ferrari and Ferrari said no so Ford built the GT 40 and kicked their ***. There has been bad blood btw Ford and Ferrari ever since. If Ford called ine of their cars a GTS308 you think Ferrari wouldn`t sue?

Took them a huge budget and a 7 litre v 4 litre capacity advantage to do it.

Perhaps places like rare spares or other companies that make FJ reproduction parts would have the FJ name trademarked.

a little ignorant by me - i guess if ferrari was that old, then they would even outdate the stephenson's rocket

plus enzo would have done well to get to 1988

Might use some fuel but will go anywhere you point it. Oh the good old days of live axle 4x4's.
