I knew this guy at uni, several years ago overseas. Big solidly built bloke, about 6'2", broad-shouldered, built like a tank. His nickname was Tonton, but we all called him Two-ton (for obvious reasons).
He had a classic Mini, and he'd removed the driver's seat so he could fit in it. He'd drive the thing sitting in the back seat, like Hightower in the first Police Academy movie.

My old man dresses most days like he should drive a BMW
but drives a dinged up Avalon.
One of the owners of the place I work for has a black Mercedes 4wd, but he wears fluros and works a days work and looks out of place in it( I'd hazard a guess he's worth over 10million, his property portfolio is massive, etc)
that and he's quite old too.

My 17 year old brother has a Phantom Purple BA XR6 ute, with 19" Avanti rims. When he's driven to work, mum has driven it home (as he's an L-plater). A 50 year old woman doesn't really go with that sort of vehicle! She's got some weird looks!

When my dad drove my Nanna's MkII Escort had to be a close 2nd. A big solid bloke with a beard driving a light blue Escort was a funny sight

Came across a Chinese student at uni getting into a VE SS. He had stickered 'Made In China' in big black block letters across both lower doors of car.

A guy i worked with a guy that rolled into a holden dealer covered in crap and it took 20 mins before anyone came near him. He was looking at a statesman on the floor and a salesman came over and gave him look over and left him.
The guys worth millions and he heads down the road and buys two of them at the next showroom. So the moral of the story is dont judge a book by its cover.
PS i look like axe murderer but im not yet or at least thats what the voices tell me

having a hard time believing that one. i'm 6'2 and have had 3 mini's and fitted fine. i wouldn't be able to reach the steering wheel or pedals from the rear seat.

Seems this bloke was looking to spent a few mill on a house
Never ever judge a book by its cover
Most people i know who have lotsa money/assets (not debts ,dont get confused)
Where there shirts till they fall of,replace shoes when their feet poke threw
Funny thing is, they never rub your face in it
They never parade what they have or should have
They just get on with life
Reminds me of my first experience with the agent that manages our investment.
We walked in and enquired about a property we wished to rent. The rep, somewhat abruptly told us to take a seat and he would get back to us. As there were no other clients in the office and after waiting approx 10min & seeing other staff walking around casually, walked up to the receptionist and said that i think the sales rep misunderstood me and explained that I had a property that i wished to let out.
He was back in less than 30 seconds apologising profusely!

I don't wear popular/expensive brand names & refuse to spend more than $50 on a pair of shoes & bum around in old work clothes most of the time. I have'nt had a real holiday in 20 years (although i am told we are going o/s next year).
I'd rather spend my hard earned on my cars, the odd weekend away, cruise & socialise with other like minded enthusiasts. my needs are simple.

Oh pottery im sure you look pretty as a flower! haha

Oh heres a different one. For weeks ive been seeing this green P plater bloke get around in a fully resored Kingswood panalvan (dont know what model it is) and it looks reaalllllll tough!
Pulled up at Pimp My Ride one day at the same time as him and got out and started having a chat. Turns out the bloke who owns the Toughest holden in town was Homosexual!
Mind you he was top fella and im good mates with him now but it was just a shock to suddenly hear his voice talking to me about the crazy amount of time he's put into the car.

Me!!

The number of times I've got weird looks pulling up in my tinted tank, and people see a young looking dude hop out of something that's ~40-years old and dressed the way I dress... Even the Police!! Most of the time at RBT's, they spend more time asking about the car than they do RBT-ing me :P

It's great!!

On people I know, I've got a good mate who's 62, long bleached hair and he works on the interiors of buses... in between driving his white Rolls Royce around :S Awesome!!

Needed a few parts for my XC a couple of years back and I sent my gf (who happens to be asian) to Bursons. Salesperson was shocked when she asked for a top and bottom radiator hose for a XC 351 cleaveland and a dizzy cap.

Seen an Asian looking guy drive around a C4 Corvette. I can say for certain the owner is a genuine muscle car enthusiast, loves his V8s and will never be owning a Japanese car soon. Oh loves his Boss Falcons too.

Afterall Larry Shinoda did design the Stingray. Breaking the mould is good.

Cheers.

A few months ago now, I saw a sparkling red 599GTB parked out the front of the post office in the main drag in my town. I didn't see the owner, but it was more a case of car doesn't fit the area. The average car is a VT with p's, and the pinnicle is a E2 GTS that lives around the corner and and BF GT. So seeing a Ferrari worth more than most of the houses around here parked very casually was a sight to be seen.
