Before the smash After lol! Click that link above for more images and a stupid story that finishes something like this This was a tough looking VL, which could obviously pull a fat burnout. Bad luck about the smash mate, but we are all proud of you for not being afraid to drive it hard. We look forward to seeing pics of your next holden mate. Wonder why they get there bad names :the_finge |

Hahaha funny thread, I hate seeing P platers trying to drag me in VLs especially when they are turbos and mine is just a SL.
I've seen literally thousands around Geelong and i'm shocked if I don't see one without scratches or a dent |

IMO a lot of guys (not all ok Ryan ;)) out there choose the VL Turbo's to get into
A) Its cheap way to get into a quick, highly modifiable car...they have no experience with quick cars but that doesnt matter. B) Their mates will love them and they think they will get respect because they own a Holden...but mostly "A" Now, ofcourse if you do ratios to reason, there are going to be more Idiots in VL's then other makes of cars, Some people truly have a love for cult cars like the VL (i.e. Ryan etc) but for a lot of people in the lower socio-economic bracket, its just a poor mans skyline to compensate for what they lack in other areas.

Ok. I've been flamed in other places for saying this, but male mentality dictates that driving a sexy, fast Holden makes you appear to have cojones.
For years now I've always been of the opposite opinion. I live a 5 minute walk from my local shopping centre, which is just up my street (I'm directly off Springvale Road) and we get idiot hoons doing burnouts and all that crap in the carpark all the time. And what do you know? There are a few jap cars, but the bulk are VH-VL Commodes and Toranas. When I see young fools trying to look big, what do they drive? Old Commodores. IMO, if these young little rats are caught screwing around, acting dangerous on the road, tear up their license, stick it up their cornchute and make them undertake their Ls again to learn what responsible driving is. Driving is a privilege, not a right. These little punks should learn to respect the safety of others, even if they don't care about their own. |

You are right about some VL driver's who are just young moron's.But don't forget there are some of us who actually really enjoy driving them. Not for the popularity of them but actually because we like the cars.My daily driver is a VL Calais Turbo, and the 16 k's to work and the 16 k's back are very enjoyable indeed. So next time you see one on the road you might be shocked to see a 29 year old in the driver's seat instead of a young pimply headed 18 year old.But for sheer enjoyment theres no beating my XW for a weekend blast, now thats fun!!!!!!!!

I love VLs, but not because they can rip burnouts or because they have a jap engine, but just because I love the look of them. I'm, probably a rare example of a 20 year old P Plater VL driver though, because everytime it rains, when I come home, I get out the chamois and chamois it, so it doesn't get dirty from the rain streeks and everytime I get in it, I always take off my thongs, so I don't tread dirt and stuff in it. So I'm actually quite fussy, when it comes to making sure, it's always clean. Very rare amoungst P Platers these days. Especially the ones, who drive VLs. Sorry for swaying off topic, but yeah.... |

Maybe he doesn't wanna scrub his tyres. I've seeing people doing drifting lately in the wet, perhaps due to that drifting film that came out not long ago.

Today I was driving the Laser and doing the legal speed limit (50ks) when this dude in a clapped out yellow VL, sits right up my clacker.
He wasn't a P Plater (Late 20s early 30s). So after he speeds up (Probably doing 70-80ks) and takes over me and it sounded like ***Grits teeth*** a VN V6 rattle box and it was very dodgy. I just thought to myself, of how much of an idiot he was and how he's the type of person, that gives VL drivers, a bad name. |
