Look at the massive shift in the curve...everything is hitting MUCH earlier and for the best part of it you have 10rwkw on tap more than it had previous. No wonder you have been experiancing an improvement in throttle response. I wish mine reacted like that when I put my chip in! Considering the chip is programmed for a cam, when it does go in the curve is going to be wild!

Man you have gain around 10 rwkws throught the rev range that is a great improvement so far. Some dynos measure peak rwkws while others give averages. At the dmx dyno da Jonbays got 120 rwkws and I got 109 so go figure. I think stockstandards suggestion is not too bad .A gtech will give a better idea. Heck just driving it gives you a better idea. If it feels heaps better thats great ...

hell yeah, its getting better every time i drive it(ECU Re-learning maybe?), last night in the rain i got wheel spin in second gear... that... never... happens.. wet dry or otherwise.
My replacement cam has gone to Duggan in queensland to get reground(its been shipped out with two cams for a lotus Elise so it has some good company) so hopefully when it gets back that curve will be 10kw up again at the minimum. I have to make sure i get torque readings when i get the power run done again as well.

My first tank of petrol went in this morning since I had the chip installed last week. I calculated my mileage, this is a mix of city/highway driving.
12.35 l/100 compared with a before average of 15.5L/100. And thats also with my caning the ute at almost every opportunity. I think ive made a good invetment here.

good work sourbastard, i bet you couldn't get the smile off your face when you first drove it ey? hehe, mods are mad. and like casper said an extra 10rwkw is a great gain when its over the entire range like that.

Well, hurry up and call them about the cam now dammit. I want to see the numbers after its in so I know how hard I have to try to beat you. I suspect your going to have a very quick I6 soon.

but seriously, a stock prelude, except new zorst and MASSIVE b.o.v doesn't make 300rwkw no matter what internals it has. |

My goal is to get the falcon matching or exceeding the power from an e49, 225fwkw(Not sure what that is in rwkw), if i can get that happening, id be a happy camper.
That wont be happening with this round of modifcations, but maybe the next.

225 fwkw is very do-able. to my understanding through an auto that relates to 150rwkw. why not aim higher? having a goal is good but when its easily done you find yourself dissapointed ... well thats what i think anyway. you should aim for at least 300fwkw is theres more mods in mind! well thats what i think anyway.

i dont see getting up to 300fwkw without forced induction, and thats just an insurance nightmare in my case. I'd be happy with enough juice to be a daily driver, and be able to leave the commodores at the lights.
If i had a second car and the ute was just a drag car i was working on, sure, bring on the expensive mods, but in that case, id be more likely to spend money on dropping in a modified boss 290/ecu/transmission.

That sounds to me like a generous dyno (compared to what I have seen in Adelaide anyway). Was that car ever taken down the 1/4?
Most stockish v8 E-series falcons and early V-series commys I have seen pull 110-120.

150rwkw is about 200-205fwkw in an auto. At least thats what most people tell me sleep:

my bros AU3 XR8 (220kw) dynos at about 140-145, standard. that relates to a 30% loss with an auto the power loss through the drive train is a bit of a dark spot i reckon. some people have told me 30% and others swear that its about 20% or less. but i dunno, i can only do the math based on true facts. if it is 30% then 225fwkw is 150rwkw spot on. |

Regardless of what fwkw or rwkw they are all just numbers in the end. I have a goal with my car too, to run a 14.5 second 1/4 NA. I dont care what the kw's are to do it as they are all intangible. I just know that a ticket that says 14.5x with my car number on it is undeniable and, regardless of whos dyno says what or fwkw = x rwkw, its a number that is universally accepted. Time is a fixed entity, 14.5 seconds is, was and forever will be 14.5 seconds.

I think it is more like 30% for stock cars which would mean a 157kw I6 will pull around 110rwkw. 20% would mean a littleover 125rwkw which is BS. I dont know how this applies to modified cars though, I imagine the % would start to drop as the engine develops more power.

I agree working out fwkw by rwkw is dodgey at best, the best indicator I have is that an e49 will do a 14.4 down the quarter in standard fashion, i want that number also. Keeping in mind the charger was only 1300kg compared to my fat cow of a ute which is nearly 100kg more then the au sedan.
Of course on modern rubber e49s have gone as low as 13.8, held by Jim Little in his charger. :S I think ill settle for the 14.4 though.

Spoke to Road and Track services, my cam should arrive from sunny queensland tomorrow, and it will be installed on Friday the 11th of February.

From my experence R&T's dyno isnt overly accurate, reads quite low. My OLD car ran 81rwkw there and went on to make 94.4rwkw at BDT's dyno. BDT and Morpowa seem to have almost identical readings (3 dyno days between the two) with R&T consistanly reading lower than those two. Which is good for you. An AU with a chiptorque and a cam should be making close to 145rwkw, so i wouldnt as much be looking at the numbers on the side of the graph, rather the shape of the graph. And by the looks of it you obtained a HEALTHY gain through the whole range!!!

yeah ive kinda given up on the whole rwkw concept, except for dyno days when everyone is comparing to the same dyno, theres no way to compare, so ill just be happy when i do my run at heathcote drags and see how she pulls up.
Ill get a dyno in shootout 6 mode done before and after the cam goes in, but other then showing the improvement of the cam, i doubt it will be that useful. Ill still post it ofcourse fo those who want to have a gawk.
