Where I used to work, we had some half decent desktop speakers hooked up to the counter PC and the 2 of us had common ground in music tastes, although my co-worker had a decade on me and he enjoyed some early punk as well. We would play some Tool and a lot more and now I'd add Dream Theater to the list. We had a couple of tailored songs for a couple of co-workers. One guy would come in a bit under the weather after most weekends, so I found one in the collection by the Dead Kennedys - "Too drunk to ?????????" to play as he walked in.

Ha! In my kitchen at work I put my iPhone in the dock and play the following: Pink Floyd, the Ramones, Led Zeppelin, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Sex Pistols, Oasis, Blink 182, The Offspring, and ill do requests for the girls if they like.
Absolutely no complaints from anyone about my music! Gotta love iPod docks.

Haha that it is, being a musician myself i dont know how i would feel if one of my bands hits was being tailored to play in a supermarekt molesting peoples mental wellbeing.
I know i know, royalties, but I still dont think I could cheapen the experiance of creating good music.

Woolies. Every hour, on the hour is "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday......I love you....". Every 15 minutes is 'Fancy feast for your cat", and every 5th song is a Christmas song. Which will increase each week closer to Chrissy

Umm, what?
Woolworths is a Publically Listed Company on the ASX. Some shares may be owned by people from overseas, however the vast majority would be Australian owned.

My day consisted of Deftones, Slipknot, Suicide Silence, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, Whitechapel and The Black Dahlia Murder.
I don't even care if customers get upset by it, I'm here all day, you're not!

We all work in our own vans pretty much and they all have radios, we've also got 3 workshop stereos, so they're blaring out usually dance crap I don't like and that crap called 100.3 Nova, I've got 104.3/91.5FM happening in my van, the other vans have their own stuff going on and our boss hates radio all together and will go around turning them off, when one goes off another goes on. |

One of the young welders actually has a new 5.1 surround sound system in his welding bay! And I can tell you later in the afternoon when most of the factory guys have left he cranks up the doof doof and it sounds like a night club in the office (since only the bass travels through the walls, it sounds more like actual music when you're in the factory).

You reckon Celine Dion is bad.
Ted Nugent offered to buy Muzak for 10 billion in 1989 SO HE COULD SHUT IT DOWN.

The old overnight system upgrades were always cool though. I'd leave my phone in my office, elastic band over the mic switch and blast some Tool through the store.

Have watched this thread with interest, recently and Hell does exist and I proved it last Saturday;
I took my son for a drive, I spent a happy hour with the mp3 player running regaling the cabin with the dulcet tones of Slim Dusty, Chad Morgan, Smokey Dawson, Reg Lindsey, Peter, Paul & Mary, The Kingston Trio, John Williamson and the like. For further fun I tossed in a good dose of The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Beach Boys, Ertha Kit, Mike Oldfield, The Platters, Glenn Millar and the super group Sky with aussie classical guitarist John Williams out front...... I was misty eyed in nostalgia - he sat grinding his teeth, wondering where the heck 50Cent was. I noted his attitude and informed him hell did exist and he was in it...........:ev ill

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so “profound” that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well.
Bonus Question of the mid-term exam: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyles law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: “First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let’s look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle’s Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added. This gives two possibilities: 1. if Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, and then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose. 2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my freshman year that “it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,” and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is, therefore, extinct…leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being, which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting “Oh my God.”

The best we've done is, the Deli boss put the origin over the microphone. SO no one could call anyone (and you would know how often the front loves to call on people). Anyways, somehow it stuffed the system and we were without it for a week
