I still think the R Spec will hose everything for collectibility if nothing better comes before they shut their doors. Personally I think the E and Force series will be next best, as they were the top of the range, and manual GT-Ps for the purist...but you never know, and it will never affect me anyway.

Fit G6E dash spears. When I was looking I asked the dealer to do it as part of the deal. He would have.

I still want one of these cars but don't have 60k for a Sunday car.

Agreed. If only the rest of the world could experience what we have.. Or had!

Ford does not make a sedan or Suv in any market closely comparable. Yet Mercedes, BMW seem to have the ability to build sedans and suvs and sell them across the world! One thing was to lose the ability to manufacture these cars here but to lose them altogether is tough. Mustang is great and I'm a big fan but its practicality for most isn't there.

I tend to agree, especially the ones with 9" rear wheels! GT-E's are the better equipped stealth end of the spectrum to the R-Spec.

Although the G6ET look-a-like thing, soft and mushy seats or plastic wood trim arn't my cup of tea by any means I reckon anyone looking to sell one for $50K with those wheels needs to stop and have a bloody good think.
That said... I very nearly made the mistake of trading my GT-P for $60K Kiwi this week Reckon if I did that would have come back to haunt me. Lesson for the week, never ever, ever, ever make decisions based on emotions or heresay and rumour on the internet
Mates are always handy to have and even the Mrs can be useful from time to time
I reckon R Spec's or the last of the FPV's (if there is one), will be comfortably more collectable than executive looking FPV's which since Force days have had very poor retained values.

How much more would it have cost FPV to make exec seats with proper bolsters or real Burr Walnut inlays....and they wonder why they didn't sell well Not an especially good photo but you can get the idea Mercedes use proper bolsters and realise even in a luxury car people want proper lateral support going around corners.

Dash, sometimes it not always about the money. Sometimes it just about enjoying the ride...

My bum fits in the seats Rodge so there is reasonable support :-) Well especially coming from muscle car background where with modern tyres you use the steering wheel to try and stay in the driver's seat rather than in the passenger seat around corners lol

I actually like that Mercedes interior. The seats look like they'd be good for a skinny bugger like me.
If I had the funds I'd love a GTE with the 9" rear wheels. I seriously doubt it'll happen but maybe one day. They are such a nice car and remind me greatly of BMW or Mercedes in terms of styling and subtlety. Fast but you wouldn't know it. Elegant.

Plus the steering wheel badge is not oval enough!

And no I don't mean in a Kia or Toyota way either. Lol

But I would go the GT-E as said before, when I see a force 8 even a 6 I turn an check it out. The GT-E is easily as nice a looking car as force cars every time I see one lol and I have only seen two ever and I'm on the road all day. The thing that grabbed me bout my GT was the fact it didn't have stripes. I like the force tail wing that bad I keep fighting over buying another boot and sticking a force wing on it!
Buy the GT-E if you want and can afford it or wait but don't miss the deadline.....

Made for larger blokes. MB put a ton of R&D into seat design as they realise the importance of making customers feel comfortable, supported, relaxed and happy.

Anyway...back on track I think the fact that GT-E and F6E production has stopped must to some degree be supportive of future resale values, (simple laws of lack of supply and some ongoing demand), and provided you buy at the right price and really love the exec styling then it should be all good.

Have a very good friend who has a 'P' code Force 6 - hamburger with the lot (brembos 6p/4p, sunroof, red trim, 6spd auto) and loves driving it every day!

Unfortunately given the cancellation of Falcon production we have a few people who are now selling cars onto the market for more than they are worth (being opportunistic) However there is still 3 years of production to go so the pricing bubble will burst.

Ford never made many of the gt-e and it will become collectable in much the same way as gs's, landaus, coupes etc.

It seems that you don't have your heart set on it, which is good, so lowball them. Go for 59k drive away. If they say no, that's fine, if it doesn't shift they will come back.

Things are tough out there at the moment so they may need the cash-flow.

I’m expecting the GT rspec suspension setup to be eventually featured in the normal GT, hence I don’t think the GT rspec will be anything more desirable than the normal GT … ultimately it’s very very likely that FPV will have more “Special Editions” this and next year to try and flog a few more V8’s

If there is a GT with the 2014 update, I'd like to think they would introduce some option packages to include the R-Spec stuff. Then there is the intercooled 5.0 that was developed but not rolled out...

I drive my F6E for work on many country roads and up and down the Hume Highway for work. It has over 90,000kms on it now and it is still as good as the day it was purchased new (albeit with a heap of stone chips on the bonnet and roof). I'll probably keep it until it starts costing me a heap of money to maintain it, but in all likelihood it should be good for 200,000kms. By then it will be worth bugger all, but I don't really care. I bought it to drive it everyday, not just on weekends. Every time I give it a squirt to overtake a B Double or 2, or a line of 5 slow travelling cars it brings a smile to my dial (which is frequently!).

I just hope that in 2015 or 2016 there is a cracking last-hurrah v8 model from FPV, otherwise I will probably be buying an AMG Merc or M5 to replace the F6E.

ive had mine now for 3 weeks & i can say its the best thing ive ever brought, i love the decklid spoiler & the subtle looks , & noise it makes as it takes off leaving everything (including tires) in its wake, tbh it gets a fair bit of attention from car lovers, ive had a couple of occasions now where the walk back to the car raises concerns when i see people around it, that normally ends with a brief chat about it & looks of u lucky b&*$Stard...
i did a brilliant deal on mine to the point that although i was not fully ready to buy, i just could not leave it.. the mrs now loves driving it too & now gets why its so special driving the gt.
gotta ask the same, which one was in in melb?

Technical Contributor: For members who share their technical expertise. - Issue reason: Trev has owned several boosted fords and has really contributed a lot of info on them. His posts in the bike section are also very helpful. I think he should be recognised as a technical contributor.
Default Re: 2012 FPV GTE good value?

I pulled up in the city the other day and got out, fella behind had just got out of his car and asked me what sort of car mine was as he loved it... I found it hilarious, it's a top of the range Falcon mate, "A Falcon, really?". He seemed shocked... :-)
