Ill be entering again this year, so ill get as many pics as I can. Most of which Ill take Friday while theres not many people to compete with.
This will be my second time entering, and I found last time if the car was out of there by 4pm it was fine - after that the drunks get too much, especially if theres girls in the car. Otherwise I enjoy being a part of the event.

Its still a great car event with some neat cars

I have also seen a couple of young blokes thrown out for being a bit anti social and security handled it pretty well.
its a bit of a catch 22 situation, ya risk getting kicked out of the show for doing a burnout or risk damage to you car, etc for not pleasing the crowd.
as for doing burnouts for the crowd ,most entrants dont have a problem with it other than the crowd being too close .
if ya get out of control (insurance issues)

ps
its when i cant take vb in with me but can buy the same product at the event that I get dirty :jab:

I'm flying over on thursday, will be there all weekend. flying back monday.
as awesome an event as it is, I don't think i'd ever take my car there.
Its too far to travel only to be able to cruise up till say 4pm each day, as someone said earlier in the thread thats when it gets pretty full on with the crowds wanting burnouts and hassling the girls in the cars.
Unfortunately as soon as it gets dark there seems to be two absolute morons for every one normal person.
Other than that, its an awesome atmosphere, and there isn't really anything that covers as much as the summernats does as an event.
can't wait to get there

il be heading there with the mates for our annual getaway, get there thursday, leave sunday, stay in fancy accom. with spa and kitchen so we dont have to eat takeaway the whole time....there will be plenty of drinking (at the room) plenty of perving (cars and girls) at the show.....plenty of heckling for burnouts and boobs......in my opinion thats what the nats is about....having a good time.....with some control of course.....

They have family day and thats the day that things are a little "dull" after that its on for young and old and to tell you the truth it could be alot worse than what it is in regards to alcohol fueled dramas.......a couple of people out of 100,000+ causing dramas isnt too bad considering the amount of people that are wasted, and the whole rivalry and different ethnic groups that attend. I think its run quite well, other than the years where cars were damaged and the drift ute wacked the crowd its been quite good......i feel that the "cruise" on the dirt is stupid, and i think letting a ute drift on it with only rubbish plastic barriers and short chain link fence was a disaster waiting to happen.....but they have probably addressed it all now.

Personally i think if you dont like it dont come, it sucks that people have been burnt by the whole thing but as they say in life "***** happens".....and as far as i can tell all the things people whinge about, are things that have been happening there for the entire time the nats has been held.....alcohol, nudity, fighting, its human nature for alot of this behaviour just coz its a car show wont stop it happening.

Just my 2cents

I'm not going. I've been once and I can't say that I'm really keen to go again. But it sure does spice up the Canberra nightlife though.

i see on the Summernats ads in Street Machine, down the bottom it says "NO BIKE CLUBS ALLOWED" does this mean the Rebels wont be there this year?

there was a bit of grumbling when the bandidos cruised on through but nothing really happened, heard it had something to do with one of their members getting pulled from his car and bashed the year before.

Thats a interesting question as the Rebels have been going there for along time.
But I think insurance premiums must be very high so I would say the organisers want to eleminate any groups that could be a problem.
Remember 2-3 years ago when some absolute moron let of a fire works rocket that went through the roof of the beer garden & damaged one security guards hearing. Imagine claiming that on insurance these types seem to want to destroy the show for good.

Maybe make a Picture Thread Up - call it

"SUMMERNATS 20 Photo's" or something like that

or "Add your SUMMERNATS 20 Photo's here"

So other members know whats in there instead of going through this thread to find Photo's

I haven't actually been inside Summernats yet this year but been hanging around Braddon (the unofficial other Summernats) and I reckon it should be renamed the Skyline Nats. There seems to be hundreds of them! Or maybe the "PimpedOutBMWsWith FullySik20z Nats because there are hundreds of these getting around too.

Thank god the "doof doof" craze seems to have died down, still a few cars with over-the-top stereo systems but nowhere near as bad as previous years.

Best car I've seen so far is a really nice tubbed metallic green 55 Chev with number plates ERUPTS - I bet it does when he buries the right foot!

My brother did not come home from work this morning. Gave him a call and he traveled down to Canberra to go to the casino with his mates. (Since he cant go to Star City because he is a dealer there). Got down there did not know Summernats were on, since he is not much of a car person. But is absolutely loving it!!
