Just got back from babysitting a friends kids and I tell you what, you look away for a second and they're halfway across the playground, its frightening. You have to be vigil all the time, and if you're not and screw up, take responsibility, don't try and sue the world for your shortcomings.

Don't wear baggy clothing near escalators is another obvious one, as it snags easy. had a kid we used to live nextdoor to in the paper because his frayed jeans caught and it literally tore the pants off him.

What if the driver had been drinking or using their mobile. Who's fault then?

Yes the excalator may of had a issue, but regardless the parents should of been supervising the child. down at pac fair on the gold coast i saw a mother take her child DOWN a escalator (the kind with stairs not a ramp), balancing the thing on the back wheels, to which she lost control and it cartwheeled down the stairs from the second level. i trid to reach out to catch it as i was on my way up but missed, the women should have used the lifts to get down, thats why they are there

Solution:
Supervise kid/be aware of children at all times

I hope the case is thrown out, and the parent is told to stop wasting people's time.

Unfortunately, stupid behaviour is rewarded nowadays.

In that example given, if the outcome is still the same, then it is still an accident. But the way society is, nowdays, the driver would be jailed.

Arh the solution here is easy and practical- just put on every available point signage that says something like " stop being a tool" when an accident like this happens then you just piont at the sign.
Its like a few years ago when a spat of tourist's broke there necks in NSW diving drunk into shallow pools they were all suing, in the end the NSW government passed a law saying that people are responsable for there own common sense (or lack of)

Agree on this 100%. As a 21 year old, and the father of a 10 month old, I completely agree that the parents are at fault. If you can't be bothered watching your child, you shouldn't have one. Simple as that.

Basically, yeah. The world has become a place where no one is responsible for what they do. Parents rely on teachers and television to raise their kids. Their kids grow up with no boundaries or discipline. And when the whole thing comes to bite them on the ****, they turn around and cry foul.

I wish the world would just harden the farkkk up!

We are breeding a generation of cotton wool. How the hell is anyone going to have the balls to make good governmental or business decisions with the fear of every repercussion weighing them down?

At a recent family dinner we were reminiscing of the times we had while we were on the farm. I was there from the age of 2 to 7. In that time there were many an opportunity for serious injury or death.
According to the warning labels and the cotton wool we are being wrapped in these days, my entire family should have dies at least a few times each in those 5 years.

It's funny, I invited my older brother to come water skiing with me and some friends a few years ago, and told him to bring him he should bring along and maybe get him behind the boat. His immediate response was that it would be totally irresponsible to do that, then I pointed out that I was behind our boat, with my older sister, at 3.

Even my brother that grew up in the farm situation has been brainwashed by the cotton wool warning labels.
