I vote for GT351 - the badge markets itself, and lord knows it will need to 'cause Ford/FPV marketing is hopeless (though the pumping of the recent FPV GT ads is noted & welcome).

As a few of you said, Ford is very average at marketing the brand. I vote for the badge GT351 - Self marketing.

I'd prefer GT R-Spec, GT-5.0, GT-351. GT-H just doesn't mean anything to me. (Having put down a deposit for a Black/Red one I wouldn't mind if they did call it GT-HO!!)

GTH is pretty good. Close enough link to HO with out the possibility of degrading it.

well we`ve just had the 2nd of the model upgrade, the panther is another upgrade, apparently HO is no longer owned by ford, so how about --PHASE 3 GT--

And the story about Ford not owning the GTHO name is more than likely someone getting their wires crossed. Its the GT40 name that Ford do not own the rights too, hence why the Ford GT supercar was never called GT40 like they wanted it too.

Di the BA re-introduction of the GT as a regular model devalue the GT name, and any previous cars under the GT name? Or has it re-vamped the spirit behind it?

When you consider the FTE cars, with TS and TE, and the fact that they did little to capture the emotion associated with the GT. Just have a look at how the BA GT gave Ford fans something to believe in and stand behind.

The basis of "HO", and how it's name can be ruined seems to stem from only two facts, a new version most likely wont be a Homologation model, nor the fastest 4 door in the world. But, the name "GT" it's self, was in fact used to describe Falcons built to homologate the car for bathurst, until that became the HO's job.


Does a modern day HO need to live up to a "phase" or, should it just be a symbol of high performance, a GT but more spicy...

Some people think that the GT name is already watered down by the GT-P and GT-E variants, so adding another random letter is only going to dilute the GT name even more.

Have a look at what Ford have done with the mustang, rebirthing iconic names such as Boss, Mach 1 and the GT350 and GT500...

It would be a marketing boon at this point , with a track oriented tickle up as has been suggested and possibly slightly more power, itd not too disimilar to what the original HO's were compared to the standard GT's.
I think we need some perspective here.

Its is what it is , I still maintain that as a business you would expect them to use all means necessary to sell the product and help generate excitement around the brand, just in pragmatic terms.

It IS only a factory model that was churned out to meet homologation requirements. I see no reason why they couldnt re use the name. As long as its not a bloody sticker pack.

The HO was build to be raced around a racetrack,a FG GT will never be raced in production form so NO HO.

I don't beleive there is anything stopping anyone running a GT (or a GT-HO) in the PTCC/AMC, under the Group E regulations...the same regulations that the Phase 3 ran under...

All other car makers keep their model names. The older HOs will always be classics no matter what happens now. Its a modified GT it makes sense.
