My Mitsubishi was least reliable. but it was the oldest at 8-9 years old

Its probably easier to say 'least reliable' for me, which would be a Mitsubishi (sigma) - the damn thing had the head off more then King Henry viii. Piece of s..t doesn't even start to sum it up.

Most reliable BF F6 thrashed at the track so many times and always got to drive it home.

Least reliable thats easy VK 6cyl carbie black motor, it was pure junk.

Never owned one bad except a high km camira 20 years ago with 2 speed auto and the varijet carb let me down a couple times .as for km bought the pano with 700 on the clock 20 years ago ...only for my engine swaps never let me down ..owned a lot of cars and I do a lot of kms never been broken down , pm is any cars biggest problem ..people who buy a car and if their turbo goes at 300000 they complain.

But as for complete faultless ...my last patrol till 100 thou without a rattle , prado is close too but has rattling injectors, and a couple rattles in cab on rough roads, and camber on front a bit out now at 80 thou , but getting fixed Thursday ...cars need love they are only a machine

Over 23 years of driving and owning cars, the most reliable car I ever owned was my March 03 5 speed XR8. Despite 4 years of thrashing, several hundred laps doing supersprints, the only issue was braoken engine mounts. I gave that car heaps. Still miss it.

My old BA XR6. Took a hiding all the time and kept going on and on till I traded it for the BFII.
Worst had to be the hand me down Camry from my folks. Which didn't like getting treated rough.

My AU TS50 hands down.

I've had it 12 years its done just over 170,000km, its been a daily in Melbourne traffic, drag raced, circuit flogged, camping, to the farm many times, carried fat truck drivers and sticky kids, crashed and a crashed into.

However, other than basic servicing and consumables such as tyres and brakes, it's had a radiator replaced under warranty as a preventative maintenance item ( they don't do that anymore LOL) and it now it has a minor power steering leak. I'm sure it will need stuff in the future but its certainly earned its status as a garage queen.

my series 2 xr6 would have to be the best car easily i have owned, not saying it is a faultless motor car, it has a had few minor flaws, but they are far far out weighed by this rock of a car, starts every time, never goes out of tune, only requires normal maintenance for 99% of the time.

i don`t think so mate, just normal maintenance imo, they don`t last forever, my first one started to get a weep out of the tell tale at 100,000 k`s or a bit past that, my old lexus they recommend you do the water pump around that mileage, if i remember the service schedule it was 95000 k`s, maybe i`m wrong, but that seems a fair service life to me, the same as ignition coils, people expect them to last forever.

Two of the most reliable cars I’ve ever owned have just been clunkers that I use to drive to work and leave there for days on end.

1. TE Cortina 6 cyl auto. Went like the clappers and couldn’t kill it with a stick. Kept it as a depot car for 11 years.

2. AU series 1 Forte, ex QLD police car. Replaced the Cortina after I was given a Liberace in a traffic jam. Kept this for twelve months and spent nothing on it. Ended up trading it on a BA and got nearly as much for a trade-in as what I paid for it.

Both fantastic cars. That’s probably why I always recommend the AU Falcon for anyone who wants a cheap reliable car to get around in.

i have to agree, dad's EA Ghia 5 speed from '91 was solid as a rock. We owned it from 120,000 to 330,000 and all it needed in that time was ONE set of brake pads, a water pump and a new clutch. Here's a photo from 1995 when we bought it after going on the Ferry.

Hilux for me, tough as nails and just can't be killed, still going strong at the ripe old age of 25. It just keeps going. Second to a Magna which never faultered and it too is still going strong. Most unreliable were a VR V6 which left me stranded several times and a EL which constantly needed fixing. The VR has gone to car heaven and the EL is quietly decaying in the back yard.

2000 model Honda HRV. Owned for 9 years and 145,000 km. never failed. No parts failed. No brake pads changed, not even the battery, nor the remote fob battery changed. Yep, no bull! Just regular services.

The family hack...my 1999 Mitsubishi PA Challenger.... last few months its needed a few parts thrown at it but all in all, now its all fixed again its again ultra reliable, we were gunna sell it but they not worth much anyway so we are just gunna run it into the ground.... they make a great cheap family wagon and are pretty good off road too.

Had to be my old 80 series cruiser 4500L auto at that, thursty as but couldn't kill it. Had it 10 years ran 300 000Ks on it so it had over 400 000ks when traded. Used to just flog the guts out of it, straight line roundabouts, jump gutters get it airborne on a old motorcross track. Was really ****ed off one day so I just held it flat in neutral for like a minute, and it still didn't blow up.
