I really can't fault them at all. Very factory feel, no noise. Some quick street, back road driving so far. Very happy, I can't stop staring at them they look awesome. The tire fitters were very impressed.

Brett- any chance of seeing the front calipers in red with shockworks logo in black.

I just like the red calipers to stick original FGX XR8 look, and the red looks nice against my smoke colour. Seen many other calipers that are red and not brembo, and if you have shockworks logo in black- should not be an issue?

Anyway, is there room for red calipers with black shockworks logo on it?

Cheers

For those interested, it was my car that cracked the first set of Shockworks rotors but this is under extreme conditions with 285 slicks on the front with an overworked 4 pot Brembo that created hot spots due to lack of pad surface area.

The service from Brett at Shockworks was exceptional though and the rotors were replaced.

I have not had a problem with the latest set of Shockworks rotors and that includes a few more full track days on 285 Hoosier R7's.

From a design point of view this 6 piston caliper with the 34mm directional vanes has me very interested.

34mm provides the heat sink ability I require and I am very interested in these 6 piston Calipers.

At the moment our stock is Black and Silver. I have had a few inquiries about red calipers but not sure how many people will want this, but considering the calls we are getting will order some red versions just to cover the colour range:-)
We are making a new order now so will have a few sets in red, in the near future:-)

Cheers
Brett

I was given a template cut out, and can say that the calipers do fit in the FGX XR8 standard front rim. But it is tighter than the Brembo 4 pots.

I just gave that template a go on Enkei RPF1 18x8.5 +30 and it wouldn't clear by the smallest amount. I am going to take the template and try them on a set of 18x9.5 +15 RPF1's as the groove may be positioned differently in the wheel where it fouls possibly allowing clearance of these brakes. Those will likely be my new front rims, fingers crossed it will clear.

Just had a delivery to my office.

All work suspended for last hour while I opened up the shockworks kit boxes-feeling like a kid at Christmas again.

Seriously impressive gear- I do not know which is more impressive -the rotors with beautifully crafted cooling vane 34 mm thick discs with such nice centre alloy hats...or the massive 6 piston calipers.

These calipers have massive pads- 190 mm in length, compared to the Brembo 6 piston Brembos in FPV that use pads 164.8 mm in length.

A thought kept moving through my mind that I have sorta gone over the top- but I did suffer bad brake fade with the Brembo 4 pistons and at 45,000 km the OEM rotors are lipped badly and are almost throw away.

Serious engineering right here-congrats Brett on your kit- cannot wait now to get it all installed.

Can you post pictures your calipers please, the previous pics dont seem to show up. What's the cost for the 6 piston caliper and rotor upgrade?

Thanks.

Hey mate

I only have 2 basic shots when I took the calipers to my local paint/panel shop for repainting- I want the calipers a deep ruby red as they are so big I want them to be more subtle. Here are shots when we were breaking them down.

Also a comparison shot of the pads, one is for Brembo 4 piston calipers that comes standard on FGX XR8. The other is the pad from the shockworks 6 piston caliper- anyone guess which is which?

Cost was $2,500 for full kit with mounting brackets.

My question was for the Shockworks guys but thanks for posting the pictures and your feedback. $2,500 seems well priced if it includes the rotors, calipers and pads.

What is the rear 4 piston caliper and rotor upgrade worth and are there any pics?

Thanks.

I messaged Brett last week. Said ill be waiting 7 weeks for the 4 piston set up, which in my opinion is a better option than brembo 4 piston options which are 2 piece, and around the same $$ for a secondhand set. Includes discs and pads.

Has anyone got side by side photo comparison of the Brembo 6 piston caliper pad vs shockworks 6 piston caliper?

Pretty sure they'd be almost the same, Brett said in his earlier post on page 1 of this thread that he designed the Shockworks calipers so they would take Brembo pads for replacement ease.

No- the 6 piston Brembos used by FPV and Sprints are 164.8 mm in length.

The pads used in the shockworks 6 piston is 190 mm in length, same pad as used by the Bremo Brembo 6 piston caliper used in the Brembo Grand Turismo series, so a much bigger caliper than the 6 piston caliper Brembo used in the FPV and Sprint Brembo 6 pistons.

The Brembo Grand Turismo of that size is used in the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. So they are not teh same as the Brembo 6 pistons used in FPV/Sprints, but are the same as the monster Brembos used in the Trackhawk.

Can anyone confirm if these will fit inside an 18" BA XR8 or BA GT wheel?

I believe I can fit 6pot Brembos but these look like better value for money and if their coil overs are anything to go by the product will be second to none.

You need to get a template from Brett.

The pin position may be the same between both pads so they may still fit, although the surface area would be much less. Would need to confirm with a test fit.
