Fair enough I suppose.

I've seen a few Walky kitted VLs, without the big wing and it looks quite nice.

Just seeing one on aussie roads is a treat as they're rare as hens teeth!

Walkinshaw has started doing aftermarket commodores again, they have a factory in Clayton, their top product based on the SS has 370kw with supercharged road legal kit, they are doing Astra's as well, must be Turbo versions.

i dont mind the old VL kits. i mean by todays standard they are actually fairly plain.

i think one of the dumbest factory wings would be that HSV ute, vs or vr (not sure) anyway it was as high as the roof.

Look at the paint shade difference between the bumper and the rear quarter. Must have been painted and fitted for less than $100. :MrT_anim:

So they are still silly looking. Just NOT AS silly as the AU. I'll agree with you on that. Well the first part anyway. I would have to think that apart from the Festiva, those pommie rockets, are about as ugly a ford motor car as your ever gonna see.

I know its all factory, but I'll bet that the guys who designed the Cosworth, were the same guys that designed the AU.

The name Cosworth means nothing to me, as I'm sure the name FPV means nothing to the poms.

Phil, where do you find these beauties???!!!

That is disgusting. Not only in bad taste, but a terrible quality job to go with it. The owner of that should be ashamed...

I would say the same if I saw that sort of thing on an equivalent Ford, by the way.

But dont forget, its their car... if they like it, they can do what they like... blah blah blah.... sleep:

Thats right, Because FPV has no history, no rally accolades, no worldwide acclaim. And for the most part, probably never will.... Most Blue Blooded Fordies, know what and who Cosworth was and Is....

lol...thats gold. i second that it looks like it would of been a clean car, why waste money to make it look bad.

everybody in sa will know what i mean (hopefully) if they go cruising on friday and saturday nights through hindley street(infront of red square) about the green vt with hsv body kit (with yellow inserts) the drag car style scoop with a "moroso filter in it" all different kind of badges from ss, storm, calais, hsv, clubsport oh and you cant forget the crap rims and the apexi stickers. he's indian i rekon he is a telemarketer that actually made a sale or two so they got him a working visa in australia, and to repay us back he built a car that we could laugh at.

Some of us blue blooded fans are not as well tuned to the history of these cars as someone like yourself. I wouldn't know any of these cars if I fell over them. I have the history books of fords, but i've never taken the time to read up on the subject, because it doesn't interest me. I'm not fanatical when it comes to motorsport history and definatley have no interest in rallying (Is Rallying Really A form of Motorsport).

I'll try not to loose sleep over the fact that FPV don't compete in the WRC and that it has no history.

Do the same with a T3 or XR8 220 "rebel kit" in England and the reaction would be guys drooling, women dropping panties and small children running in fear.

Sure the Cosworth is fast and a loverly car... and the AU may look "silly" but the AU isnt "cute"(this is how I have heard the Sierra defined by a number of women), its got its manhood still intact.

Ok let me elaborate, my comment was not intended to be a bash against the AU, merely a reaction to somebody who has an AU : and views the Escort Cosworth as silly looking. I can fully appreciate a nicely kitted up AU

I regard myself as 'Blue Blooded' but only know small bits about the Cosworth and what it means......but they do nothing for me and dont care to much for them. Dont care bout worldwide aclaim and like what i like. I like the Cosworths...Sierra, RS ...... but they dont do anything for me like a V8 muscle car of the '70's IMHO.

This is a silly wing thread and yes they had a 'silly' wing .........yes it did things nessesary to the car but it looked silly!!!!! My opinion ( and a couple of others) and I own an AU! and I like it (It hasnt got a spoiler) :

As opposed to a "cute" little tush with wings a 747 would be proud of and an exhuast that sounds like a old porn star with a bad case of "curry gas"... "pffffffffffffffftttt...pfffffffffftttttttttttttt. .. pfffffffffffffftttttttttt" :

Thanks, I'll keep the real sound of an AU. :
