Just sold the 05 pulsar that I used to drive around to in work. Driving around in the metro area it had more than enough go and being a manual was actually fun at times. Some people still see a small car and think no power and that is no longer the case.

The Pulsar is yet another carrot being dangled in the faces of potential Falcon / Commonwhore buyers. The interior looks quite large and appears to seat 5 comfortably.
I like the interior, it looks of great fit and finish. Anyone know of acceleration times?
The SSS sounds good, if it does 7 sec. dashes to 100km/h it may be a winner!

Local management did everything in their power to keep the 'established' Pulsar name for the newer model, but Japanese management demonstrated that locals know best not learning from the woeful British management and its short term ism.
In 1995 our new N14 Pulsar Q was a manual with optional a/c and floor mats and standard pwr steering for $23,700 o/r !
It's fully robotised construction was a local first for such production tolerances and a hell of a tough car.

It isn't all that big actually... well and truly smaller than Camry and Mondeo.

At 4.61 metres / 1255kg (max 'Thai spec') it puts it in the 'small' class next to:

Focus sedan at 4.53m / 1436kg.

Corolla sedan at 4.54m / 1325kg.

Cruze sedan at 4.63m / 1431kg.

Lancer sedan at 4.57m / 1315kg.

Elantra at 4.53m / 1289kg.

Cerato sedan at 4.53m / 1347kg.

Not the largest small car, but at the top end of the length comparison. Seems very light as well.. wonder how many extra kg the 'Aussie spec' will be?

Funny... in some markets the hatchback verson will remain named the Tiida according to Wikipedia.

Feeling quick and being quick are two different things. Shorter gear ratios may make it jump off the line ok, but at the end of the day they are still cranking a 10+ second 0-100 unless you revv the ringer out of it.

If this model represents the same leap Nissan made from the N13 to the N14 Pulsar, they will have a fighting chance. My '92 SSS was a very good car, well ahead of the Mazda, Toyota, Mitsi and Ford brigade of the day.
The playing field is a lot tougher now, with lots of tasty offerings, so time will tell. The Pulsar nameplate was very well respected and it was silly step to discard it in favour of the Tiida.
