Back in days before he was a star....or even on TV.... he had that car. He went to a Tyre Joint somehwere and spent a lot of hard earned on a set of wheels and tyres. Idiots at the shop didn't do up the rear wheel nuts and one the way home the wheel came off at low speed and punched up into the rear guard.
Stuff the gaurd and the wheel nuts etc.....Eric not happy man. Tyre fitters had it repaired and covered costs, eventually. I wonder if he use this episode as his motivation for some of his facial expressions when he was doing "Hulk" |

Is this car an XB Fairmont?
Looking at the trim and rear lights surrounds, it could be. Or is it a GT?

I don't think it's a GT, just about all the references I find refer to it as a Falcon only.
All the same, bloody nice. Heres a link to find out a bit more. Check out that he's had the car since he was 15 and paid a whole thousand bucks for it. Isn't it great to see a superstar not full of his own shite, just a bloke from the burbs who made good. http://www.ericbana-archives.com/Eric-Hobbies.html :

Saw it at the Shannons classic at Phillip Island in March. The underneath was modified so it was all one level, and the interior (or lack thereof) is awesome. He was saying the only pre-requisite he had when they did the interior was that nothing was highly flammable.....
He also said that they filled up in Braeside, and they drove straight to the Island, and he had his fingers crossed they wouldn't need to fill up again before getting back to the city! Rumour has it he will be driving one of the Porsches' that came out for the classic at Goodwood this year....... It's not a GT.... but who cares !!!

Oh no! He's smashed it!
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sto...93-661,00.html Eric Bana crashes in rally April 21, 2007 12:00am ACTOR Eric Bana has crashed his car while competing in the around-the-state car rally, the Targa Tasmania. Bana, who is competing with co-driver Tony Ramunno, crashed his 1974 Ford XB Coupe into a bank south-west of Sheffield but both are believed to be OK. "Bana and co-driver Tony Ramunno have put out their OK boards, indicating that neither of them required medical attention," a statement said. "Bana was in 53rd place, from a field of 115 cars in the Outright Classic competition, before the crash." The incident occurred just over 25km into today's 37.75km stage of the event and now the pair must wait off the track until all cars complete the section. The car is not believed to be seriously damaged and maybe able to continue the event. AAP

Just saw the car on the news... all I will say is 'ouch'. Quite a bit of front end damage, but old XBs are built tough.. it'll be back! (but not at Targa this year!)
