The other driver is an old lady so this is almost a pyrrhic victory.

By the time you get the cost of the mirror, and fixng the guard, as well as the cost of repairs to her car, she may as well claim on her insurance.
She probably has a lifetime no-claim bonus anyway. And don't feel sorry for her - she can obviously afford to buy a not-too-old Honda, and she didn't have the decency to even come back to find the car's owner, or even leave a note on the screen. |

You should probably just hand over the details to your insurance and let them deal with it. Should be enough info (along with your dashcam footage) to waive your excess and they'll then chase her for the excess money.

All done. Insurance company called. Claim has been approved and the other driver will pay the excess.

It's shocking what some people think is acceptable behavior as grown adults.
Few weeks ago, I forked out $680 to fix a leaking diff hat, then this happened the very next day while I was parked on the side of the road... https://imgur.com/a/bUf5P There goes another $500 on excess So the moral of the story... stay away from people !

Looks like a ute tried to back in behind me but turned too early... Anyways, the car is all fixed now and that entire panel was resprayed. Just have to wait another week for it to properly cure before I can wash my car again... oh the humanity !

Thanks to this thread, I just bought 2 x blackvue power discharge kit's ($52 ea on ebay, Oz stock - can get cheaper if prepared to wait a month). I'll put one in the GT, and 1 for the territory so I can use the parking mode of our Transcend D200 dashcams.

I agree with you snowcone. The councils should be liable (of course they wont be ) for approving the narrow roads that all new areas seem to have these days. That leaves the poor souls living or passing those areas to battle it out among themselves to sort out. With insurance companies having a ball with it all.
What would have happen if emergency vehicles need to squeese through there? New areas are so dense these days you can hear your neighbors fart . I only have a cheap dashcam in my car, i think i need a quality one for christmas |
