Just Saying.
I almost got the SRT8 instead of the R-Spec; I quite like them really and it will be interesting to see how they perform once they get the 8-speed gearbox.

I'm just interested to know if there are some issues given that there is a lot of tech features in them.

Yep...that what i keep thinking....and saying. You don't get a car jam packed with electrical goodies thats built to a price to survive long anywhere....especially here in aus.

I also think the looks date faster then any car I've seen.

Be interesting to see if the 300/SRT8 are having some quality related issues.
Hi Jim,
Your colleague got a real bargain there...any chance of a head to head drag race comparison report ?

did consider the core.. but wanted the luxury as its a crusier, and i did not want a brusier at the moment.

Congrats again on your car purchase, they're a nice bit of kit, no question.
You wouldn't have a link to that 4.4 second thing would you ?

I noted the steering wasn't one of the highlights when I test drove one but it wasn't especially awful either.

Hi Rodge,

This is a bit tongue in cheek with a "subtle" reference to the GTS v R-Spec thread; there would be no 0 to 100 head to head as I personally don't want to do that to my car but it would be the 80 to 120 sprint. That is where I find the R-Spec so exciting to drive!

When i drove one of them i felt that the steering was to light and didn't really throw it in to corners because of it. all that i can remember is the 300c's (all of new ones) have a electric power steering system which i personally don't like

Also the closest thing to a 300c with an 8 speed is the facelifted WK Grand Cherokee SRT-8 which i have also driven and for 3 tons i feel that the WK goes a lot harder. (Sorry if i have gone off topic again)

No problem, still Chrysler related. Interesting to hear your comments about the Grand Cherokee SRT-8. That is on the radar for us next year when the Terri comes up for replacement. I haven't taken a Grand Cherokee for a drive yet, still doing my research!

Any other comments would be appreciated, can pm if you like.

Crickey, thanks for that, that's very impressive and the cherry red metallic looks sharp too. Huge amount of car for the money, something I will find very tempting when it finally gets the ZF8 gearbox.

OT, I recently drove the latest BMW 750i with the ZF8, that gearbox is unquestionably the best in the world, gearchanges are claimed by ZF to be below the threshold of perception and on low / medium throttle they are, just appears to be one continuous stream of power and torque which in the Beemers case was plenty of both. Makes the 7G Tronic box used by Mercedes feel soooo last decade's technology.

yea, when they get the 8 speed in the 300 SRT8, that will be 1 scary fast car.. at the moment the 5 speed would be hurting. especially in gear accel.

Considering the recent update to the GC, has the 8 speed with the 6.4, it should not be far away on the 300.

The 8speed in my 300c lux. its very smooth and yea, feels like there is power on tap at all times.. great for passing cars on the high way for sure! my car at 105km/h on the highway sits about 1250rpm.. so good for fuel as well.
