Well... think a few years prior to that, and I'd say my '66 1600 Fairlady..... it's all REAL driving - no power brakes, steering, anything really (some would say that includes the engine

The original Mini's are up there - for me it's the Classic not Plastic theory although an Audi RS4 was sensational and has to be up there too.......

For me it has to be a manual. Then I just love anything with a dirty big turbo hanging off it - I mean the whole feeling of the first little hesitation, then the boost building up and slingshoting the car forward until it hits redline will do it for me every time.

Having said that most fun car I have driven was a RWD S13 turbo Silvia - absolutely ridiculous in the wet, just no traction whatsoever (I think the previous owner set it up that way....) Give me a BA XR6T to live with every day though...

Had a 59 Austin Healy Bugeye Sprite for a few years up until I sold her to go backpacking round the world...

650kg, around 85hp from a 1275 bored out to around 1330. Cooper S bits etc etc....

Handled well, was low enough to park under the parents verandah and drew smiles and stares EVERYWHERE.

Best fun for 15 grand.... a poor mans elise!

Cant wait till i get a place wit a garage to buy another one.

A while back me and a mate bought and old LJ Torana $450 with 980,000k's on the clock. Bloody good fun. It was missing half the floor due to rust and ****ed out blue smoke under acceleration, but it had a loud xhaust, bus spec steering wheel, little fats on the rear. It was ready for the wreckers pretty much so the fun was being able to thrash the living **** out of it, drop huge burnots on greasy roads whilst the six let out an ear splitting death rattle, pick up chicks do Maccas runs etc. Anyway the cops got a hold of us and it was goodbye to the Torana. Good days. My Fairmonts a great car and goes hard but it's too nice to abuse.

Porsche Boxster S - Engine rips, chassis shreds, really a fantastic weapon. Non stop smile mobile.

But the ultimate fun mobile I must say is our Mini Cooper S - little supercharger wailing its head off as you tackle every corner like your in a go cart. Unbelievably quick and fun. Definate smile factor!

IT would have had to been a nissan pulsar 1989 modle that was owned by a pizza shop. It had no passenger or driver windows only the drivers seat. the brakes were dodgy, it sometimes got stuck in second gear (auto) and at some stage reverse didnt work.

We thrashed that car within an inch of its life. if a shopping trolley was in the way of a carpark then we used the bumber to move it. Eventually it got taken off the road by the cops...... good times

the most fun car to drive i had was a 1979 toyota celica lift back with a 2L single cam 4 cylinder wit a 5 peed manual. I could take it anywhere(even places i could get my land cruiser) and do anything to it and it wouldnt die

To add a bigger dimension to the fun factor would have to be a car with a drop top. Until you have driven a well balanced convertable sports car around the back roads around a place like Yea in Victoria, you haven't had all the fun possible. Brute horsepower is nice, but an all over performance is more fun.

For my 2 cents worth the best car to drive was an escort RS2000 the handeling was awrsome comfort great. But the sound of that little 2lt screaning was the best great fun car to drive

Toyota Corollas and Ford Mondeos courtesy of the Government/NZ Defence Force/NZ tax payer. Not worrying about (front) tyres, gas or the clutch is always fun

In reality, everyday use, can't go past a decent handling manual rwd. Any 6 cylinder manual BMW will do me.

I had a '74 2 door civic which I shoehorned a worked '76 Prelude 1.6L into that my brother and I used to race the local low-speed rally scene in. Was so much fun it should have been Illigal (and probably was...).

The E49 Charger I had was still the best drive ever. Just so light, so responsive and sooo much fun.

didnt have much respect for Mini s till i went for a ride in a hotted up cooper s (oldschool one) i dunno if its the nimbleness or that you are so low to the ground BLEW ME away .New and found respect for them

i wouldnt mind taking the one on the left for a spin either
