a few beers is always magic potion to do the un-doable.

i dont know if you can get original ef/el xr replacement knobs. i bought a knob similar to the BA's from supacheap auto for about $25 but the neck is coned and too long and looks unco with the boot bag, and i want to use the original bbot bag. theres an e-series member (he has an EL sedan and an AU wagon) doing auto gear selectors from a BA to suit an e-series, maybe you can ask him to do a manual gear knob for you.

(white cluster $70 on ebay)
