This in a B Series XR8 would be sweet, although what would the cost of working a 5.4 to the same level be?

Looks like a lot of butter and lube was used to stuff that donk in that little hole.

Problem is they will never make enough of them over there for them to be a common engine, considering they are limited to Super Dutys. And the crate engine price makes it about 5 or 6 times more expensive than a decent running LS pulled from a Commode. |

75hp/litre NA is hardly impressive ... it's a little over half the output of the average NA 600cc bike engine. At 1500hp it would be on par with an NA litre bike engine

Harrop already has an unopened but supercharged 7.3 at 800 hp and 1,000 hp on E85. These are early days but for anyone who wants a boosted big V8, the 7.3 exists. |

It wasn’t designed to be high hp/L, it’s purpose was to be a very durable, capable, efficient towing motor that meets emissions regulations with a low acquisition cost and an extremely flat torque curve, running on the cheapest lowest octane unleaded fuel. It will move 13 tonnes with a 5-year warranty.

I always find total horsepower and total torque far more useful than an irrelevant figure like hp/L.

The often quoted Super Duty 430 hp 475 lbft is under rated by about 30 hp and 30 lbft
compared to what it would be in F150 or a car/SUV. So it’s really 460 hp/500 lbft. One big positive for the 7.3 is its width is close to a 351W and roughly 4 1/2” narrower than the coyote V8. Crate engine from Ford is USD $7,000 + freight, so still a “hurdle”. |

Remember FTG Autosalvage? They did a 4V 5.4L into a Territory so you bet your *** Godzilla would fit in
Height might be a concern though. Would be a shoe-in for a repower of an older F series I reckon, as long as you enjoy the thought of having a car that behaves like an unguided missile which doesn't steer, stop or turn very well but she hauls *** |

You driven a 1970s or 1980s F series before? Doesn't matter whats over the front of it, it still doesn't stop, steer or turn very well, put 450hp in it and it would be great fun on the Kings Way to Westgate Freeway onramp

I'd still judge this 7.3L the same once it's given a tickle - it's still not an easy feat to achieve. I should know, I own a 100hp/L pushrod N/A. |

When the Demon was released I called for a twin turbo Mustang. They released a beast in the 2020 Shelby GT 500, but just as it reached buyers, Covid interrupted.
Already packing absurd torque, I wonder how much this could tow. Last edited by CoupeKing; 02-06-2021 at 08:16 PM. |

They were testing a twin turbo Coyote. They even trademarked the Ecobeast name. Not sure how far they got with it though, or whether it was intended for the GT500, or Cobra Jet drag cars.

Its interesting looking at this as it gives the different perspective as to how the Ford v8 would look like if they had'nt continued with the modular design stuck to 2V heads and kept the tried and true over square bore/stroke instead of sticking with small bore square/ long stroke design which i always thought was a mistake not having the flexibility to stroke the same block to different displacements .....very interesting , especially considering they sell so many trucks

As for the Eaton supercharger, all the big roots-type supercharger manufacturers use positive displacement Eaton rotor packs encased in their own designed package. Harrop has developed its supercharger kits just as VMP, Edelbrock and Ford Racing/Roush have done, all using the same four-lobe TVS rotors. It has still required engineering on Harrops end to make the package work. |

So they've made a case for Adrad's intercooler, made a plate to adapt Eaton's supercharger to Ford's engine and made a bracket to house someone elses tensioner pulley and used someone elses belt to make it work 'Value adding' not 'Engineering' - systems integrator.
