V8's will always be the best music to a mans ears
But I have to admit, a Ford 6 sounds very nice. A modded F6 would have to be one of the best 6 notes going around and has huge tuning potential, enough to forget about the v8 note once you're driving one |

I love the sound of old carbie V8s. The V8 VL Calais we brought sounds better then a lot of the newer V8s, around where I live. IMO Then theres the green XR Fairmont that often cruises, and sends shivers up my spine, because of the sound of the Windsor under the bonnet. |

yes the boss (and LS1) definatly need aftermarket exhausts fitted to sound respectable imo.

The Boss comes out of factory deliberately made to sound quiet. Sucks, but that's the way it is now with stringent noise pollution restrictions. I was a little disappointed when the car was new, but after I replaced the factory exhaust with a set of extractors and a sports exhaust, I haven't stopped smiling. The growl is absolutely magnificent.

If I was buying a new FPV today however it would be an F6 auto. I guess that's why I'm waiting for the next model_2:

Nothing like the sound of a Ford V8.. magic. In order of preferance Clevo, Windsor and Boss. I'll never forget the sound of my old neighbours heavily worked 351 XY GT blasting up the street - that was one angry mofo of an engine.

My XR8 with Genie Tri Y's, mandrel pipework and single straight thru muffler combined with CAI sounds like a proper motor. Beats like a jungle drum at the bottom of a canyon...............
Every Turbo Falc (2 x stock 1's) Ive driven and heard go by has sounded like a YELLOW CAB, with either a leaky exhaust manifold or a hole in the muffler. Not the most endearing sound Ive ever heard.BMW M3 6 sounds like a good'n, but so it should given it 'ill rev 2000 rpm more. And costs $155000. Gen 3's sound like crap, stock they're like a wind mill / high powered vaccum cleaner. Stock Boss motors sound 1000 time better than stock Chev oops - Holden. While I'm sure a good sound is in the ear of the listener..... I've personally not heard a TUFF sounding turbo. Flack jacket at the ready. Boxing gloves donned.

I do indeed love the sound of a late model V8, especially with an aftermarket exhaust. But i also love the sound of an angry boosted 6. A mercury Phoon went into the KFC across from my work, and upon leaving the the car-park, he gave it a good bootful ... pure perfection.

Got to drive my little bros VH SLE he bought a couple of months ago as a sunday driver. Has got a COME Stage 2 308 and pretty sure standard auto but was awesome, windows down doing 100k on quiet country road. definately nothing like the rumble of a sweet V8. Would have considered the XR8 except for the extra insurance, is ridiculous

The day we picked up the Calais was awesome, listening to that sweet sound of the 5 Litre under the bonnet. For me to drive it would cost $3000 for insurance, because its a V8, thats f'ning ridculous. |
