It would have been great to see what straight line speed was available to Chrysler through the Charger if they weren't so unreliable through lack of funds.

I have spoken to some American friends about this rivalry that we have in this Country in the past and they don’t understand it either. They tend to appreciate muscle cars for what they are rather than by who made them.
Maybe I wasnt as clear as I should have been,my passion definately lies with the old muscle cars (chrome bumpers) the newer cars while nice, just dont have the character of the 60-70's muscle cars..

Life wouldn't be the same without the Ford/Holden rivalry!

I mean, what would the point in living be?!

As said its all a bit of good competition. What gets me is when i own a ford and a holden, people are like but your a ford man you cant have a holden, all i say is who cares? i like some holdens and some fords, not all of one brand.

Most people seem to have respect for a nice car, i love cruising in a mates XY GT replica, and also love cruisin in my brothers HQ Coupe. Mainly love any nice old car, valiant, rotary, holden, falcon, what ever. But yes the HOLDEN V FORD argument can get out of hand unfortunatly.

In anything other than V8 Supercars, I am sick of it. I don't own either so couldn't care less.

So why bother posting on a Ford forum ?
You don't have to own a brand to support it.

i would like to see the v8 supercars turned into a competion of old and bring all the manufacturers in......i could not explain to my dad the reason why crysler isnt allowed into the competion? why only ford and holden? i tell you what, if i had to pick holden over a rice, i would. i do like subaru though and if ford didnt win bathurst i would want subaru or mazda to win. but not toyota or mitsubitshi..they do nothing for me.
i love ford and i like the rivalry with holden but i would love to have all manufactuers in a series. id love to see the crysler 300c in the race.

I used to own a Ford, plan to own another one again some day. Try to help out where I can (but don't know much).

Basically what I meant to say was I got better things to do rather than bag one another out.

I dont mind the Holden vs Ford thing it all. Its all good fun until someone looses an eye hehe. I have stated on the Forum before it had always been a Holden man until purchasing my first Ford I drove the VZ SV6 but choose the BA MkII XR6 over it, im happy I did. I signed up for my first Ford a few days before Bathurst last year (& picked her up few days after Bathurst last year). It was strange for me watching Bathurst that year in 2005 my feelings where split 50/50 with the Holden v Ford thing for all these years I had supported Holden as a kid I had HDT posters in my bedroom. But now i was a Ford owner it felt right to support the Blue Oval as well. Over the last year I have switched over to being Ford 90% Holden 10%. So this year at Bathurst I was supporting Ford from the get go. So I havent had to weight since 1998 for a Bathurst victory so to speak. In a few years time when im ready to upgrade I will test drive both the Ford & Holden product (& maybe some others) & see what suits me & my needs the best. No doubt though both of the big Aussie car's manufactures give us a lot of car for the $$$.

I have always had this feeling though going to Clipsal etc watching Motorsport on TV that the supporter split is about 60% Holden 40% Ford would you agree disagree & like the shine some light on that. Id be interested in your thoughts. Its just a gut feeling I have always had.

MoreHPformyXR6, I'm more or less the same person as you. I have been a HRT fan since I first watched the V8s, I have a truckload of merchandise from them too. At the end of the day my first car was a Ford (TX5).

It was what suited me and Holden had no other car to compete with it as far as I was concerned. C'mon a Camira or an Astra-no thanks!

I am still to this day a loyal HRT fan, but I draw the line as far as childish comments been thrown between both camps.

I recognise good and bad points in both manufacturers and make a decision based on what I believe suits my taste etc without acting like a school girl, like some do. I used to be that way, but you eventually grow out of it.

I could of gone either way when purchasing my car, but went neither because nothing both offered was right for me. I was simply not going to buy a car based on the badge it carried.

too many kids just jump on the band wagon of 'Fords suck because their Fords' because of peer pressure. most of these kids either, dont have licence, have got their red neck family members saying that to them since they were small, or dont even know what a Ford looks like.

In school, its the new black to say "Fords suck" coz the popular tossers are saying it.

I could explain in depth how I feel, but I won't.

Holden vs Ford = Waste of time, both rock!
Folden vs rice = Worthwile. Keep that **** off the roads.

I have always wondered whether it's just Falcons and Commos though, or whether, for example, Focus owners pick on Astra owners and vice versa...

It's tradition, and I aint sick of it..

But when rice comes into it, it's Aussie muscle v. rice. Although, with the look of some of the new HSV's, it seems rice has struck Holden pretty hard :p

If it's older, I tend to appreciate it, no matter what brand.. But Ford and Chrysler are always on the top of my list!

I could never get sick of the rivalry Ford vs Holden!

Imagine what FPV and HSV MIGHT be producing if there was no rivalry... no, dont!

So is a turbo Four Litre rice or muscle?

I love Holden VS Ford rivalry - nothing gives me more pleasure than lining up against a commo at willowbank and dusting it big time

Alternative manufacturers I would by from and their ranking according to Rollin:
(not necessarily new cars, just ones that have produced cars I like)

Ford>Nissan>Toyota>Mazda>Honda>everyone else>Holden

Is a 4.5 litre quad cam 6 bolt bottom end V8 made in Japan with a turbo on it muscle or rice?
I think people make the rice thing much more than what it is. For instance, everyone i know associates a "rice car" as being for example...... a 180SX, Skyline etc etc.
As for your four litre turbo.... I'd call it a different flavour of Australian Muscle.

I have always associated rice with a 4 cylinder econobox with bumpers sticky-taped on and overly shiny hub-caps with a muffler that sounds like a big fart more-so than country of origin. The fact that most of these cars come from Japan/Asia tends to be a coincidence I think.

I say lets avoid the debate on what is and is not rice, tis been done to death before. We all know what it looks like and we should ban against it rather than each other.

FORD vs HOLDEN rivalry will ALWAYS be and thats exactly the way it should be! Altho it is tending to sway across to the FORD/HOLDEN vs RICE more and more....

His Rides Ride: VT SS S2 & BA MK II XR8 (So he bats for both teams). I was reading about a bloke on there that drives a Commodore (but states in the thread he's a Ford fan) & often jumps out of it wearing a Ford t-shirt sometime's he said people look at him look he stole it (I dont know what that means people think of Ford fans hehe).
I must admit I was wearing HRT merchandise (as ive stated previously had always been a Holden man in past but the BA put me in my 1st Ford) the day I picked up my XR6 last October, but it wasnt visible to the public. Eg like the guy wearing his Ford t-shirt driving his Commy.

This is something I added to there website & also had it my first post in this thread here.

(his replie below)
i think that ot depends also on what state the race is in, in adelaide i think there are more holden supporters but somewhere like bathurst i think its even

I suppose Adelaide may have more Holden fans than Ford as Holden is manufactured ere. Where as im sure Geelong has more Ford fans than Holden for same reason. I still think my gut feeling is correct though Holden 60% Ford 40% fan base. Anyone have any thoughts on that one?
