Yes, in the US mid-size (D-segment) cars are traditionally offered as sedans.

They will most likely add a hatch & wagon version for the Mondeo range.

Well looks like this is my next Mondeo, then again I have no idea what Ford Australia has planed for us in respect to model lineup, gee I'm envious of overseas people with the options they have to choose from

Totally agree with apstar - IF aust version looks the same as that, I'll seriously consider it. Very nice looking machine

There should be little change. Only the headlight bezels will be different, which will be black and incorporating LED's

Which will probably make it look even better - time will tell, but, to be realistic, I think the only thing that will stop me getting one will be the price.

Although lot's of things can happen in twelve months.

NAIAS 2012 EyesOn Design awards go to Ford Fusion and Lexus LF-LC

Quote:
EOD Best Production Award

I admit that I was not initially impressed by the final three candidates chosen for this year’s award. However, the rules are clear. This has to be it first official showing as a production vehicle. I liken it to similar rules for the Detroit Autorama’s Final Eight for the Ridler Award, which I believe is coming up in late February this year.

The 2012 NAIAS EOD final 3 for EOD Best Production were as follows: The 2013 Cadillac ATS, the 2013 BMW-335i and the 2013 Ford Fusion.

The production award I think is tougher to choose than the concept. I don’t know what I expected this year, but I personally could not view the ATS or the BMW as major contenders, not when the field last year seemed stronger, which the Audi won for two years in a row.

I found the ATS simply a smaller version of the CTS; and that just didn’t do it for me personally enough to warrant the award, with all respect to the fine work at Cadillac. I guess I was looking for a greater distinction in styling, not a super-mild, downsized evolutionary step. Same for the BMW, which was also too subtle of design changes for me; albeit high quality.

Bottom line, though, the 2013 Ford Fusion was indeed the best of the pack, in my opinion. It kept to the tone and theme of the Ford line, but its lines still look unique and fresh compared to the others, especially the grill area; again, in my opinion. But the only opinion that counts are those of the judges.

NBeing a One-Ford world car, I would expect it to be enigneered for both left and right hand drive......as they are now (and Commodores too!!)
Also, that glass gouse doesn't look too dissimilar from what we have today in MA>MC body shell.

My Order: Top spec motor on AWD platfoprm if that cheery red or bluie shown above...and I might even settle for one of the smart 6spd dual clutch auto boxes (Vale Manuals).

The previous Mondeo was first shown as a LHD car.

If I recall correctly, most of the first images of new Euro Fords are usually the German LHD version.

I don't know if you guys noticed, but even their european concept cars are LHD

PS: The headquarters of Ford of Europe is in Cologne, Germany.

Due for a new car in 2014, so if I skip the first year's production then it should work out well.

Be interesting to see where the new model is made for the Oz/NZ market.

The 2013 Fusion will go on sale later this year in North America & South America (fall), while the Mondeo version will be introduced early next year.

Ford Australia is my main concern re the new model! they seem to choice the basic models for Australia BUT I will wait and see what surprises they come up with especially when we know what the Yanks are getting

I heard the only differences will be drive train selections, I just hope we still get the adaptive AWD, would love that with the ecoboost. From what I hear and read it seems we will be getting it though.

I wonder if we are getting the hybrids?, not that I'm interested, would be nice to have the option. Global platform FTW lol

Oxford white looks amazing.
