You can see the collectors have been cut with a piece added to fit around the C6, the pipes were also heated and bent in a few places.

They look alright Nick, I will go have another chat with Barney see what conclusion I can come with then take it from there. Hate having to make these sort of decisions it is so much easier when you know who your dealing with.

Wondering if any body has dealt with Mick from Exhausr fix in Lilydale at all??
Good or Bad would like to know.
He seems to be ok and was happy to come and look at car and give a written quote, but also good to hear other peoples stories.

Thumbs up

I'll post another vote for Barney. Had a number of extractors built by him some years ago.

There seems to be a theme going here. My experience in the trade is that the odd positive feedback is good, but when a number of people have had positive results then that speaks for itself.

You are spot on there mate, if Barney still had his shop in Braeside it would already be there no questions, but there is some places im a bit worried on taking my car and leaving it there and so far im not sure about doing this.

Only 11 more days till mine is supposed to be dropped off. I'll be able to tell you what sort of time frame is being adhered to. Hopefully it's as stated when I booked 1-1.5 weeks. I don't have time to much around. I've got a few things on the go now.

Thats good to hear Brenx, will be interesting to see how you go! Please post some pics of his work if you can.
It is possible though that if I go with Mick that I may even have mine done and back home before you drop yours off.

Won't be able to do pics. As you can't see anything once they're in the bay. Anything is possible. I'm a bit like yourself. I don't like leaving my car anywhere. Last time I left it there I needed a tailshaft, crossmember and extractor mods. It came back with dirty marks from the rain which took 3 cut'n'polishes to get 95% of it out. Wasn't impressed, as the job was supposed to be started when I dropped the car off. It took two months or so to get back. I'll be making sure they are ready for the car this time as I don't want it out back in the rain doing nothing. I can leave it at home in the garage if nothings going to happen.

What I hate is the work is good so it makes it hard to take it to someone who may get it done faster but their work may end up in the bin. I've learnt from personal experience when trying to use someone else.

In this case the guy has also come highly recommended from several people including my engine builder and some other hot rodders.

If I gave my car to somebody for work and they left it in the rain for 1 hour it would be gone from there and never returned.

Like I said if Barney was still working in Braeside there wouldnt be a problem.

After what you have to say Brenx about the time taken to do a job and the complete lack of respect for your goods I think they will not be seeing my car for any work!

Andrew was supposed to put the whole rear caraprk of the factory under cover last year. So far it hasn't happened but I'm sure quite a few car owners will be happy once it's done.

I know Andrews trying to turn out cars rapidly now as they're losing business due to poor turn around.

still you shouldnt have your car out in a carpark in the open if its there to have work done on it. Should be inside and taken care of, not outside not giving a shiit.

Something like your car would stay inside. I know that for a fact ;) I hope the time frame is kept to a minimum for my pipes as I don't have time to screw around. Can't race a 4 post hoist.

Thats very true indeed.
The other guy I spoke to said it will be in and out in a week. That is not to bad at all I think. After he spoke to me the other day I think it will be a fairly major job mine to, big pipes with nearly no room at all.

A week is very good I think personally. Carline here in Cranbourne gets them done in a week. A bloke I know is a relative of the owners but at $2000 I think it's a tad rich compared with many others. Possibly HPC coated? All I really need is an off the shelf set modified @ the collector. Like my current ones car. Nothing hard about the ones I need built.

GRNKPR : What do you mean 2pc flanged? Is that so you can easily remove them in multiple pieces? That's been suggested to me aswell if thats what you mean.

Looks like I found the bloke to do my headers, Mick from Exhaust Fix in Lilydale.
For him supply the adaptor plates, build pipes to engine builders specs all in mandrel bends and linished for coating, 1 7/8 primaries with 3 1/2 collectors, build drivers side first then mirror image the passenger side to match as im not running a bonnet on this car, and only wants the car for 5 days starting next week. All this and its only going to cost $1300. Not bad at all I think.

Sounds excellent agony. $1300 is pretty much on the mark I think. Most people I spoke with quoted $1000-$1200.

You get what you pay for, cheapest ain't always the best option.

That price isn't cheap by any means. It's what most shops quote roughly price wise. Which would put it in the moderately price range. I spoke to quite a few racers for example Chris (HSVETR) he say $1200's on the money for a custom set in a Falcon. Any more and your being ripped.
