Does anyone know how to separate the gaiter from the standard gear knob? I'm trying to fit an aftermarket one and it's driving me crazy so far.
Thanks Sam |

Sorry. |

I can sort of picture someone spraying away with one hand, a stubbie in the other, maybe a ciggie hanging out of the mouth as well?

The only mods so far I popped a K&N Filter in, got some coloured plates to get rid of the blue and white and have tinted the windows to match the rear privacy glass

before i washed it.
still got the front lip to fit and thinking either a WT zetec grille, UK spec grille (Metal grille) or a stainless custom job from china which is a mix of stock grille and verve grille

I had white "painted" mags on a VL Commodore a long long long time ago. (I bought the car new!).
These were aftermarket good quality wheels. But the stone chips drove me insane. Don't know how home painted ones will fare on the open road. |

i still have 800ml of paint left for repairs but i might 2pac them when i do my front lip. they where quite easy to paint in the end.
as far as grille goes i think i might do a WT zetec grille with black inserts and DRL's as per the asian models.

yesterday i found the limit of the stability control or lack of
wet road with old hard tyres on the rear = drift around a roundabout very fun though and seeing i had brand new tyres upfront i kept the boot in and it only came back when i exited the roundabout i thought stability control was supposed to stop this from happening also how does traction control work in these? does it apply brake on the spinning wheel or something

Yea, it'll brake the wheels that have lost traction, meaning your rear two tyres. It'll stop the tyres from going sideways and give you control back. In slight slip situations, yep it'll sort out the back, but since you're giving it the boot, there's not much it can really do other than drag the rear tyres around. Considering they're probably bald and aquaplaning, it doesn't really help the case.
ESC can only work within the constraints of physics. Then again, the prescribed fix to oversteer in a FF car is to keep the boot in to bury the rear tyres for more rear grip. |

Thanks!
The next tricky bit is to refrain from modifying it. Put 500km on it in 3 days, and it looks like i will double the range that my V8 Ghia gets. Cheering!

you can try not to modify it but you won't be able to resist.

i swear i wont modify it, it's all part of my plan to get rid of it in a few years as is and update. Any excess money i have i'll be putting into my 1963 mini. That should end up handling better and being faster than the fiesta by a margin (probably no where near as comfortable or safe though!). famous last words?

Hi ebv8, Im looking to buy a 2011 LX tomorrow and this is the first on the list of mods i have planned. Was it a hard job? was it hard to source the wing? Last edited by a pirate; 23-04-2013 at 08:09 PM. |

trying to find a wing is the hardest job. you can buy replica ones already painted from US ebay but i would ring lots of wreckers first. I paid $130 for mine
600km a tank is great, i got 590 before my 3000km peice of mind service after that i get 400km before i get told to fill up again thats about 7l/100km but thats around town. best i got was 5.3l/100km on on of my first tanks when we had those super hot days (48deg here) doesn't make sense as cars as supposed to me more effiecient on cold days oh and keep the mini my dad just sold his 68 cooper s, i wish i bought it off him but i couldn't afford it.

I got a genuine one from the wreckers for 200 which works out way cheaper than the 600 odd they are asking for a genuine primered one. Easy install just clips and screws, only drama is you have to pull the light cable a bit to make it reach but you will get it.
I just found the car advertised on ebay what colour is yours a pirate I might be able to find one.

The wife and I signed on the dotted line for a new one today! This one is for her daily use; I promised we would get her a new car once my job promotion came through
It's an aurora blue LX auto and we're picking it up this Friday. First thing I think I'll be looking at is getting it professionally detailed. Can anyone recommend a good business for this in bayside Brisbane? |
