The only way to solve the Boss V8 weight problem is make them all alloy blocks. The GT's in the GTP series are alloy blocks and the handling difference is remarkable.

I think that the Govt will one day step in and demand a cap on power ratings, like they did in the 70s with the supercar scare that Evan Green started off. It wouldn't surprise me that it's not that far away, and I'd guess it would be maybe 350kw.
No pulling back on power, no fleet cars. Panic! Ford and Holden then stop making big hp.

They had played with a 6.2lt some years ago and got 350kw from that. They could have played some more, 7LT just seems American supersize:P

Ford have built some fantastic engines as well but it astounds me why thay havent taken it further. Is it because the majority of V8s in the US are used in FWD or commercial RWD configuration? If Aussie V8 supercars had'nt gone to an identical driveline setup I think Ford would be in deep poo by now |

i think ford need to come up with something fast, the boss engine is one of the best ebgine ford has ever had, but it need more power, i cant figure out why they didnt update it for the bf, or even the ba mk11. yes holden will gain about 200 kilo's, but they are also going to have some serious horses under the bonnet. as i said before, all it will take is maybe to kilowatts across the performance range, and maybe 20/15 nm, is all it will take, and ford will be equal or ahead of the commodore. As for the fpv, with the rumor of 400kw for the gts, the gt will need to accomodate the gts by pulling something out of its ****, can ford even get another 110kw out of it without blowing it?
the typhoon should stay with the clubbies and keep them undercontrol.

I'd rather see them do a hi-po diesel, like this one from an earlier thread:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm...-diesel-engine The engine is there. It's already in production. Its Euro compliant, and it would kick the daylights out of anything HSV or FPV are currently using. |

not to sure if the effect would be the same. Back then Ford and Holden were building the fast cars, now its HSV and FPV. They have different identities to the manufacturers so the threat of stopping government fleet sales wouldnt work. FOrd and Holden could just say "Hey its HSV and FPV building these hot cars not us"

The Monaro was basically a V8 Supercar with a Monaro Shell It used a FORD Differential Hollinger Racing Gearbox And a 7L Chevy Engine. etc etc The Ferrari's, Lambo's etc were basically stock... save Roll Cages and Brakes from memory... The race was meant to be a battle of stock performance cars with minor modifications... Put the Bathurst Monaro in the 24 Hours Le Mans and see how good it goes then. |

Unlike the classic V8 Cobra, the concept sports a 605-hp 6.4 liter V10 between the front fenders. I wouldn't mind driving a 6.4L All-Alloy V10 Falcon But Ford Australia will never have the BALLS to do it.... |
