Just drove to from Melbourne to Echuca and back in my brand new Zetec (800km on the clock at start of trip) I reset the computer after filling up and got 6.3 Lt/100km for the trip. That was with three people and luggage, using cruise control and doing some spirited overtaking. I was using standard Mobil 91 fuel (no issues). I was pretty happy with that especially considering the engine is still tight.

fantastic stuff! my local dealer wont allow test drives anymore that are longer than 15mins...they want to preserve the current stock they have in hopes to sell em at a higher price than a normal demo.
you should put up some photos!

Our fuel economy is up to S@#%
445km 445.8 on a full tank of fuel 12.34L/100km I had the fuel light on for 30 minutes on the gateway today...lol For months now we have only been getting 360 on a tank of fuel, it's slowly getting better. New oil filter and oil done last weekend Buying some new Spark Plug on Friday, I think thats half the problem. Clean the air intake system. Got a new fuel filter, just need someone to put it on for me. thanks to Ford for putting clips the wrong way around.

haven't had the car for long (only 220kms on it at the moment..) so the engine is still very tight, but dad n i have managed to get it down to 8.4L/100km, and thats in near constant stop-start traffic and short hops where it doesn't fully warm up
not bad i reckon... out of interest, what RPM do u manual guys shift at to get the best economy? i've found anything under about 2700 is pretty good, but im wary of labouring the engine when its still so new. being gentle is the key.. oh and turn off the aircon in winter : Uni/. |

483km and 482.7 on a tank of fuel = 11.38L/100km.
38km more then last week. Thats the best it's ever done, city and highway driving and that isn't flogging it either. Just normal driving. Theres a big difference between auto and manual. On a long drive 3.5 hours on the highway, we have goten 520 The auto in the Zetec model isn't that good.

It was less then 100km. when we 1st got it, it was averaging 450 on a full tank of fuel. The auto seems to be great for 6 months then it goes down hill for awhile and then it'll start to get better. I would be interested to see what other Zetec auto are getting.

So far over 5000Km in the Focus, 20,000 Km in the Scenic and 100,000 Km in the AU have been without any bad effects using E10.
Only thing I notice is the cars run better and I pay 4c / l less.... |

Been driving the sedan through the city and out on the highway, then getting on the gateway early on.
521.2 on a full tank of fuel = 10.55L/100km. thats the best my sedan has done in nearly 3 years. You guys must be getting well over 650km. Is this 1.8L or 2.0L Zetec or 2.0L Duratec?

The hatch back did 437.8 on a full tank of fuel = 12.56L/100km and thats dropping off the kids and doing the shopping
Finish off the car service on the w/end, so I'm hoping the new laser platinum Spark Plug and fuel filter will get over 500km. We've seen some improvements over the w/end.

Tips... *Haven't gone past 4500rpm yet *When in bumper to bumper traffic I leave a reasonable buffer between me and the car in front so I'm not clutching/accelerating/braking all the time (ie. don't sit up people's bums in traffic, try to keep the momentum going). *Have used air con about twice *Let it warm up a little in before I drive (but not much though, have heard the you shouldn't let it warm up too much whilst stationery as the motor will warm up quicker than the trans, etc). |

Been using Mobil fuel for the past month Premium 6000 and it's the best premium fuel out there, I've used all other premium.
The sedan got 493=9.47/100km and other week 550.5=8.4/100km The Hatch got 424=11.04/100km. I have F#$% up, I thought I did have a 55L tank its around 47L Sorry about this everyone.

Just on this topic, I've run 3 tanks of Optimax Extreme. not only does it knock my economy down to about .5 of a litre/100ks city/freeway combined, but the engine runs really smooth at idle and revs silkly all the way to the redline very easily now.
By the way I get about a 0.2-3l/100km gain if I take out my sub box and amp ;) |

Is that the one with 5% ethanol? I thought our Duratecs weren't able to run on any ethanol blends?

Duratecs can run ethanol blends of 5% its the fuels with more than this that you shouldnt put in the car. That S&*^ you get from those el-cheapo fuel stations with 10% or more ethanol in it you definatly shouldnt run.

Hi
I got my 2004 model 1.8 cl manual in june 2005 and in the first few months it was difficult to get below 7.8. I did a trip from Brisbane to sydney and with fairly careful driving I only got 7.4. However the car was only a few months old with less than 5000kms. Now 1 year later I can get 6.8 with out trying too hard. A few kms on the clock seem to have both worked wonders for both performance and fuel comsumption! |

I have a 2006 LS Manual and i have done 2000k's so far. I mainly do suburban driving, and I seem to always average out at about 8.5. (i reset at every refill)
If i am just driving straight down the highway on 110kmh it will sit on 6.0 - might get under that just if not too many hills. I am using E10 95 Ron fuel

I get 7.6 city driving. I think you guys are talking about newer focus. I have an 04, 1.8, SR model, 5 spd manual and I usually fill it around 630 k's. It's takes about 48 litres of fuel. Running regular unleaded and now I have premium in it, to give that ago to see if economy improves any
