I went last year at Sydney and the year before at Melbourne, both were dissapointing. It's not the same as the old days with concept cars and just plane fun. These days, car manufactures are now focused on short term sales and use the car show as a mean to sell cars, instead of promoting and building the brand.
Some manufactures don't realise that if you promote the brand, it's technology and value for money, sales will follow.....

You can do that when you own ALL the media, radio, TV and Fairfax/News 'papers!

I remember the time at the MMS when the AU was released and we were invited by some members of the Ford stand (might have been DECA staff) for a drive of an AU Ghia, so down into the car park we went, hopped into a Ghia and took it for a "spirited" drive through Port Melb, around Fisherman's bend/Holden factory actually and back. Now that was a real motor show experience.

I would imagine Ford were going to use MMS for some sneak peek of the 2014 Falcon to steal some thunder from VF. Would also have been a good time to do a limited edition run.

Ford Australia brand communications manager Neil McDonald said the company was “obviously disappointed” at the show’s cancellation by organisers reacting to what they say was a mutual decision with car-makers that the funds were better spent elsewhere.

“We’re now working on alternative plans for something, but it is still too early to say what that is,” Mr McDonald said.

He said Ford Australia had received good feedback from show-goers attending an interactive display in Sydney last year that highlighted technology that goes into Ford’s cars, making it a worthwhile event for the company.
I wonder what that 'something' could be!!

Cars are not interesting to 95% of people. That has been changing over the last 10 years Id say. They are just for getting from a to b. Seriously, apart from us here, a few mates of yours who like cars, can you think of anyone else? Sad...
