Why is it so damned high?
I think the headlights may well look a lot better in person. |

Probably so it can drive over the retarded speed humps etc they keep insisting to put around.....
I swear one of these days ill be taking my front bumper/apron assembly for my GT home in the boot. As slow as i go etc it always scrapes like buggery over the stupid speed humps in the local shopping center carpark. Makes it a real pain on cruise nights. |

You got to give it to hsv, they know how to charge $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and hsv fans know how to open there pink man bags and pay up
But in all seriousness its nothing special to look at but it does have gizmos and maybe the biggest badges to grace the back of a sedan in the world. But take my opinion with a grain of salt im just a ford fanboy who couldnt afford one anyway. Respect for the last of the aussie big bangers

Not 100% sold on the exterior but that interior...wow.
Have to hand it to HSV, that GTS-R W1 is a monster. As per the previous posts it is jam packed with just about everything, a chassis to handle the power and driveline that many here would kill to have. Not to mention a dry sumped 473kw S/C V8. If Ford released it there'd be a pages and pages dedicated to how great it would have been. Unfortunately Ford let the Falcon go with a bit of a fizzle in comparison. Good work HSV. I won't buy one but those that are lucky enough to I am sure will enjoy such a beast.

The specs speak for themselves.
My issue (not that I am buying) is price. You could almost get a bloody Corvette for that? $170k is just to dear for any new Falcon/Commy....doesnt matter that specs it has. I like the car/concept etc etc but the reality doesnt stack up when you look at other cars in the $170k bracket. At this price point you can compare coupes etc because who really buys such a car to go shopping in.

On first impressions the regular GTS is better looking, however the official photos help paint the car in a much better light. On the looks side I'll reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh. That might not happen though if people buy them to store away. I hope HSV sell everyone they make.
On another note HSV have gone all out. They have made a proper performance package, not that they were lacking before. Good on them. I've liked the Gen F GTS's but this is on another level. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to buy either at the moment. |

The gt etc definitely were affordable.
But then we have to go out and spend a heap more $$$ on them to do the stuff to them ford should have done. Ford were worried we'd be scared off by the cost. Yet holden/hhsv just went, stuff it and did it. And they sold. Seems ford thought we were cheap skates? Probably not alot of stock gt/gs/xr8 on the road these days. Most have upgraded shocks, exhausts, intercoolers etc etc etc. So why didn't ford just go ahead and do it?? Just so disappointed they dropped the ball like that. So close to perfection and they fumbled. |

There are so many reason both internally and externally why Ford/FPV never went bigger. Of course they would if they could. Engines is a prime example, FoA never had the support from the US really. While yes HSV would need to do some local tuning and certification they have always had since LS1 a catalog to pull from. Quote:
IF they sell this thing 100%, and properly sell not have an online application filled in, then fine, job done and all success and profits to them. I have no info on HSV profitability, but if it was anything like GMH then I cant see how this was ever viable. Because if it was viable then why so long between GTS-R's? And why would you develop so much new tech for a model that is the last of, you have no flow on recovery for that R&D, hence the price. If there was a Ford equivalent then yes I would be drooling, but Id say the same thing. And I was just as critical of FPV spending the cash they did on Miami.

I actually love it, and would consider buying one if I had not just bought a house. We looked at the W427 and the only thing that stopped us was when the wife saw the stupid red interior and almost mouth barfed...
I like it Those that hate it are probably not in that market anyhow. I would have to weigh up whether an M4, C63 AMG or other is more desirable. To me it is the HO phase 3 of this generation. Nothing else Australian made comes close

I'd say you will have plenty of opportunity over the next couple of years with plenty of W1s left lying around unsold or being flipped and its inevitable price softening. Cheers Mick |

I think it looks great. Obviously they aren't too expensive or they wouldn't have sold out before it was even released.

I love the VF shape overall but HSV just seem to ugly them up too much (a bit too try hard) the Senator would be my pick from a looks perspective.

As I said, prove they actually sold, as in HSV by within the next two months has generated $51M in sales just on these cars and I will eat my hat.
