I reckon anyone with private plates is a bit of a tosser!...

Vanity plates is a good descriptor.

But I defend this blokes choice in having these plates for his torana, and have signed the petition for him. This is still Australia is it not??

Lot of hipster decisions coming out of Victoria recently. No fishing, No F#&king, No camping, BLM more than ALM. No footy for us West Aussies. And now no number plates that he has already had for years....

(Again just a bit tongue in cheek for all the SNOFLKS)

For some reason this reminds me of the normal plates that were on my brothers car when he was a p plater. It was unt- whatever the 3 numbers were. Flip a p plate into a d plate and shove it in far enought to be a c plate. He got an absolute serve from his mates religious mum about the unt plate with a c prefix.

In VIC, you own the personalised plates. Cost starts at $495, and goes up to $12'000 (for Heritage plates). You don't pay an annual cost. The plates are yours to keep. I have been through a similar situation about 15 years ago. I had an AUIII XR8, and purchased custom plates 'SEXR.8'. About 18 months after they were on my XR8, I received a letter from Vicroads stating the plates have been deemed offensive and I must return them to the nearest Vicroads office.

Why not. More interesting than a boring serial number.

What I don't get is people who have cars that are worth $100,000+ then they have an ugly yellow and black NSW number plate.
It costs $75 to get a white and black plate on a new car. Why not just tick that box and make your car look significantly better.

So they make you pay a fee to have the plates made, then they lease them to you? Bit of doubling dipping there.
