"Chevrolet claims that the L87 and 10-speed combination is capable of towing a maximum capacity of just over six tonnes, with a maximum available payload of 1020kg."

Ok before anyone gets excited by that we need to know, the axle rating, as mentioned above the RAM falls short here too.

And.
What 6 tonne trailer will they tow? I've mentioned before in another thread we do things differently here than in the US.

If we need to move an excavator, we use a proper Truck.

I really don't see the point of these here other than small man syndrome or some sort of bragging rights

Don't you need a truck licence to tow anything over 4 tonne?

I was initially impress with these larger pick ups from a commercial vehicle point of view.

1500 class types, aka RAM, Chevy and Ford F's do seem to be a bit of a waste based on that low rear axle rating but in the 2500-3500 diesel range these would be great towing vehicles ie large 5th wheelers, drop deck flatbeds, big boats (within dimension) , hotshot transport and gooseneck horse floats.

No big deal to get your licence upgraded to use it either.

I always thought the bragging rights were geared towards Ranger, Landcruiser, Nissan owners but now they're all p*ssed off because there is something bigger than theirs.
Might have something to do with the RAM TV advertising.

Which begs the following Hypothetical,
It's late 2021/early 2022 and the new Ranger is delivered with,
- a 200 Kw 3.0 TT V6 Diesel
- a 300-350 Kw 3.0 TT V6 Ecoboost option.
- a 140 Kw 2.0 I-4 diesel as the base engine
- Everest is also offered with all three engines

All of the high series Rangers come in at $20K to $30K less than the full sized trucks...
what effect does this happen on the sales of those 1500 trucks, do they curl up and die?

It all depends on how "hipo" your "thetical" is?

Of course it’s hypothetical, I know that to suggest
otherwise would simply be the wrong thing to do.

It would only take one person here to call that all BS
and any credibility I ever had would be gone.

Especially if Ford puts a S/C Coyote in it instead...

Surely there’s a market if the S/C V8 Colorado kit is $44K on top of a $52K LTZ Colorado

The mod would be worth more than that vehicle, which is just ordinary ( to say the least). 🙂

Not uncommon with the obsessed gotta have enthusiast
If Ford only knew how many people spend good money
after bad in the pursuit of their “white whale”

Although that guy in Queensland was able to fit the
S/C Miami in a T6 Ranger, I think it only just fit and
probably will over wallet but man, what fans do when
the OEM doesn’t even “see” that sort of conviction
