Most collectable of the late models is GTF followed by R spec
Then you have the limited run B series. GT40th and cobra. Then you have the more desirable such as the FPV supercharged cars. Good examples well kept and low Klm. Sprint cars are nice but reality is that they aren't an FPV no matter how hard you try and squint your eyes.... I'd pick up a cheap one for an awesome daily drive to avoid putting too many Kay's on the FPV.

FG took inspiration from the Ford Iosis concept that spawned the European Kinetic design language. Mondeo took the most cues but it also filtered heavily into Focus and Fiesta.

What a pathetic thread, sorry SprintFg. It's just the same BS again and again. This is better, no this is better. Most people are bias on what they own or their generation anyway.
With the comment earlier on about they cant sell them now why would the be worth more or more desirable (whatever that statement was), it doesnt matter how it sold that makes an item desirable. The King of Falcons and most desirable will always be the HOIII. |

FGX would be the only late model falcon without its own original styling though, can't see it being more collectable.

Collectiable Falcon?
Any that had a racing heritage, that was homologated for racing. The obvious being the GTHO P3. However I would suspect the GTHO P2 being more of a collector, it was more raw from all reports. More so, the GTHO IV. The rest? debatable. Later models? ED Sprint may be, but hard to think of any besides the FG F6 maybe.

just be aware Ford builds rust into Falcons and even FGx's are not immune
my painter just did a claim through Ford for over $10k for rust repairs on an FG Mk11 GTP. my GT has rust, my mates GT has loads of rust. my old AU has so much rust i gave it away. I still love my Falcon anyway and will never sell it

Tell you what though ..I'd love to know many of the three hundred odd genuine Phase 3 GTHO's are REALLY still road going , legal and in existence.. Does anyone know before I look it up somewhere ? Guessing what will be collectable 50 years from now is a bit like winking at a busty blonde in the dark - you are the only one who knows what you are doing - but I am not sure where Stefan was 50 years ago but let me tell you in the mid '70s phase 3s were unwanted metal - a mate of mine was a dealer in those days and they were very hard to shift - some taking up to a year to move off the lot...and yes he wishes he knew then what he knows now - his super fund would be a lot fatter....
I don't really know the answer to what will be collectable in 30 years - buy what you like and drive them....who knows you might not be alive then anyway.. As someone said recently, keeping it and not driving it so it remains pristine is a bit like not screwing your misses so she is in good nick for the next bloke-why would you do that? |

G'day...Good old wikipedia...Seems there were 1557 XY GT Phase 3's built between September 1970 to December 1971 but only 300 XY GTHO Phase 3's were built between May 1971 to December 1971.. So all up , in total there were only 1857 GT/GTHO Phase 3's built. In actuality then , the FGX Sprints will be rarer birds still..Go figure , who'd a thunk it!!!!! . with only 1300 or thereabouts. Hey Superyob keep an eye on it for me will you, I wont be around in 50 years to know....but some non chrome bumper cars are already collectable.
In 50 years doing chrome will probably be illegal if the tree huggers have anything to do with it....it is not enviro good. So if you have chrome bumpers to do, get them done soon because plastic bumpers will take over in time. sorry to burst your bubble |

Any model from the BA1 to the FG2, car or ute, with an FPV Badge will be the sort after by collectors. Especially if the car has not been heavily modified. Or preferable stock.
The V8's are Legendary (especially the Super Charged 335's) and they will have a following. As for F6 Turbo's, will always have Street Creditability and Legendary Status with a cult following. For me the pinnacle of the Modern Day 21st Century Classic, will be the FG Series 1 & 2. But, however you look at it. The FGX will be the poor mans cousin. (A bit like how the XC GXL was to the XB GT.) Even though the FGX has a little bit, more power than the FPV FG. |
