i'm gunna say the original audi quattro. everyone wrote it off becasue AWD was to heavy. proved em wrong and blitzed everything. and another rally car, the lancia stratos. weird looking and it fell apart after 10 minutes of idling but it went like a shower of ******. and finally an aussie touring car, the xy phase 3 gt-ho 351.

The group B rally cars, of the late 80's are pure automotive porn. Audi Quattro being most memorable.
Also big fan of Ford sierra as in last of watchable touring cars. All of porsches racing machinery, ever manufactured.

The Lola T610 it was the fastest car down the Mulsanne at La Mans for a few years in the 80's.

Good timing with this thread anybody watch Speed last night ? had the History of Motorsport be it F1/Can Am/Indy/Le Mans etcetc....
It was fantastic though have seen similar before - great to watch young Colin Chapman evolve then Black Jack coming his own with the Repco Brahbam. Early Monaco that Hill owned ala Senna and then watching the great Jim Clarke. Tasman Series at Warwick Farm - Lakeside etc and then the series over the ditch supported by McLaren,Hill Stewart Gardner etc Then the attempts by Chapman at Indy early days followed by Shelby Gurney at LeMans showing the awesum efforts by the GT40's ! If you can have cable I highly recommend seeing it if replayed sooner or later.

yep loftie wild days they were eh - Fangio used to fly in those silver arrows and lap the field unbelieveable....
Re - safety - I think it was Jackie Stewart who started the track/equipment safety movement.
