Hell easy to nick a car when you have the keys in your hand...
that is fast becoming the most pupular way to steal cars now. you see a car you want, follow it home/work/etc, wait till no ones looking , take the keys and away you go, easy-no alarms- no damage.

when i had my shop on the sunshine coast i got to hear of this kind of thing many times from people that had had cars stolen.

one guy went home for lunch as he did every day, parked his new BMW in the garage, hung the keys on the hook next to the door, got to the kitchen in time to see his car reversing out the drive and gone,... never seen again.

NEVER LEAVE KEYS IN CAR..... AND DONT LEAVE THEM WHERE THEY CAN BE SEEN ANYWHERE, EVEN AT HOME.

That is why the instalation of a basic kill switch, or a non-remote style immobiliser can be the cheapest insurance you can buy. Sure enough if they are persistant they will find the hidden point, but might create a slight headache for them (quite unlike the headache they might encounter if i caught someone stealing my car!)
Still though, they still usually damage it trying to steal it, or just breaking in. Hurts your pocket too.

Coolers have FPV S/N , Turbo have garrett S/N too....... But they are merely stickers.... literally.... manifolds have nothing, as they are the same of XR6T.

Also not to mention the Holden Assist thingy where they can remotely switch the car off and making the car stop and much easier to retrieve.

You can get it installed on any new ford, costs $1800 and you can also track the car with GPS and if the car is put on more than a 45 degree angle the alarm sounds and lets a service centre know which in turn rings you within 8 seconds of the alarm going off alerting you of a problem, good init.

Good thing about my car is I can leave my keys in plain daylight and you still can't drive it away. Truck is the only option. :P

Most keep key's in a safe at night, i have walked into a well known ford dealer in syd and they have left the board which has the key's and rego's on it sitting in the yard while they moved the car's around. I joked around with my old man and said which one do you want, 3 car's were left running for about 5 min's.

Do the newer FPVs have PIN code ignition or is there an option for it like the WRX's? Apparently WRX theft has decreased dramatically since the PIN code was introduced. Pitty the insurance premiums aren't getting any lower.

Thankfully my service department keep all keys to customer's cars in a safe, behind a false door.

My insurance company also won't cover WRX's for theft unless it has GPS tracking on it.

Even I had to have a 3 point passive arming immobiliser fitted (Thanks Useless!!), and fax proof to them before they would cover mine for theft.
