[QUOTE=heljas]i didnt think xf's came out with a V8
i looked into changing my old xf over to v8 and i was told due to the fact that the xf didnt have a v8 from factory i couldnt put an 8 into it if this is wrong ill get angry i loved that car All i want to say to this is NO XF EVER LEFT THE FACTORY WITH A V8. Correct me if im wrong though. I know for a fact that the last V8 to leave a Ford Factory in the eighties was a XE ESP GHIA. |

people may think this is a stupid idea but if i was you i would drive out to narrogin or bunbury as is and just try to get it over there..
depending what they gave you the sticker for address that issue and give it a go. i know that the osborne park pits is kinder to imports and as long as you have addressed the issues on the sticker, they pass you! my mate got his rx7 passed with no cat and no mufflers, just had to make sure the seatbelts retracted, because that is what he got the sticker for just have to find somewhere that will appreciate your car as is!

Just go to the pits the way it is ATM and find out what they want you to do to get it licensed.
No point changing engines untill you find out what is allowed by WA laws. When I went over my extractors would hit the metal lip on the pit entrance and scrap along for a bit and they weren't the least bit worried about that. What they did tell me to do was put some decent rubber on it as they felt the 14inch stockies looked stupid and it needed bigger rubber. We joked about how stupid the system is in regards to 18inch wheels on early model cars.

If you have did you have to get an engineers cirtificate ? Does it have the same engine number (same block ) as before ? Man WA must be very liberal when it comes to emissions laws if you got it passed before . You would never get it passed in NSW . If they passed it before just do what others have said , take it in and see what they say .

yeah it has all passed, didnt even have a heater! they are quite good here i just rang up and looks like i can leave the 825 demon on there too!
im grafting an xr8 bonnet buldge on but to pass pits i have a small scoop...i was spewing when i took off the bug catcher and put on a small filter and could shut the bonnet, about 30mm was sticking out of the bugcatcher hole! a bonnet buldge will do it!!!! one very importaint question...will running a very small filter (6inch dia) and putting an alloy plate between the headers and exhaust with holes drilled in it hurt my engine?

Ther is a place in Armadale that has a reputation for letting a few things go unnoticed when passing the pits, cant remember the name of the place. If I was you I would chance my arm and take it over as is.

And borrow a shirt from a mechanic. It seems to pay to be wearing a skippers or Holden uniform the day you take it over haha...

Try a regional licensing centre ;)
Here's a list. Just call the particular shire office and they normally have a local servo that does the inspections instead of the heavies @ the official metro inspection centres. WRT mods: Fill in one of these vehicle modification forms when you have it inspected and get the agent to sign it. You then send it into the main Welshpool office and within a few weeks they'll send you out an official certificate of all the approved mods you have. You can flash this around next time you get pulled over and it could save your bacon. http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/mediaFiles/...rm_prodveh.pdf Here's a link for most common WA mods that require approval. ie: steering wheels, suspension, engine mods etc etc. You can call the Technical Section at Welshpool and they'll gladly send you a specific pack in the mail which have all the rules WRT certain topics.....or just answer Q's over the phone. I got a pack sent out WRT scoops and fuel tanks etc. http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing/1883.asp Scoops need to have rounded edges, not metal, not higher that 10cm, can't obscure vision, can go into engine bay (foward scoop), but can't have rearward facing holes (real SLR 5000 style) .....incase you blow a radiator hose and it covers windscreen. Carbon cannister has small line from fuel tank and another which goes to engine vacuum. It disposes of all the bad fumes in your fuel tank. Some inspectors can spin garbage and have no clue.....they just try and squirt musk all over you.....so be prepared to "nicely" educate them it you feel they're on a tangent. Have a look at Brenx's old micro air filter!! ;) Your suspension should be fine. |
