Very good, Fiesta uses about 6.5L/100km so this is even better still, though, the price difference of $8,000 would have bought a lot of fuel, but that wasn't the reason why I bought the Focus
Curious as to if the headlights are H4 or H7 like my Fiesta? |

Hold the phone....
They're selling me a MKI LV Focus, which I'm fine with, but they said Frozen White isn't available in the MKI, its a more Creamy white colour apparently, is this right? |

You'll have to copy these into your address bar, but bottom line is they both look white rather than cream to me.

Clarified it today, they have a Frozen White one in MKI, October build one they said, its sitting in a Ford holding yard.
They reckon it should be ready by Tuesday. |

Just ordered a new LV MK2 TDCi with Powershift today, trading my LT TDCi 6 Speed. I love the Focus and comparing all others still stands out as the choice car. The only thing that was equal if not a little better is the Mazda 3 Diesel, the problem is they don't have an auto which is why I am changing.
I test drove the Powershift and what a gearbox, pin the peddle on the floor at the lights and my head nearly came off my shoulders. It was soooo close to wheel spin but felt more like launch control on some supercars, it left the line quickly - impressed. Voice control on the audio and Bluetooth is great and works really well. Looking forward to the delivery. Noel

I'll grab a quick picture of it tomorrow morning
I'm waiting on a reply from Code:RED about their intercooler, CAI and ecu tune, if they're good for Aussie/RHD cars. I want to run in the engine first, then do a dyno run though before I do any of that stuff and compare before/after figures at the wheels. Also curious how do I remove the hectare of plastic cover from the engine? New set of tyres and phillips +80 lightglobes, maybe a set of driving lights but I need to find a good bar and place to mount them, then thats it for mods. Plus that crap is expensive, 150 euro for the intake, 700 for the intercooler and like 600 for the tune. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 14-01-2011 at 10:56 PM. |

The plastic engine cover sits on three mounts with a round ball on the top, it comes off if you just pull upwards with a bit of force. After you take it off put a bit a grease on the mounts so it comes off more easily next time.

Remember this is a Peugeot engine (the same one as in the 307 2L and 308 2L diesel) so any chip that works with them will likely have a program to flash onto the Focus (yes they may not be exactly the same tune, but can't be far off it).

I've been reading up a bit on chips and the "Spider" sounds the best of the lot, easy to install with good results. I've emailed them asking for a price in Australia.

It sounds like a good unit, let us know how you go. If you decide to get one can you give a report on improved performance and economy.

Sorry for the late reply guys, been on a cruise ship for 13 days, its 2,600,000L fuel tank is a bit bigger than our TDCI Focus' hey.
I was going to detail it when I got back, but now I can't be bothered, just filled it up, that was an experience, wearing gloves next time... |

Check your footwear soles after you fill up. I have rubbermats in my car and dont enter the house after filling up-the footwear gets chucked in the hatch which is covered with two large flattened removal cardboard boxes. If you walk into teh house with diesel covered soles it makes a hell of a mess. Diesel fill points are filthy places. I always wash my hands in the servo rest room if they have one. I drive a truck and diesel makes it a grubby occupation.
Also if you start your car in a garage attached to a house have some doors or windows open to offset the crap these things put out the pipe at start up. |

Will do, Mum isn't too keen when I dirty up the floor...
It took me a while to get the smell off my hands, I don't mind it compared to petrol but I'm not too keen on smelling like Diesel all the time, plus i had to wipe over my steering wheel and I think i wiped my hands on my pants too. I hear that the lights in these bad boys are H7s, I'm going to order another set of those phillips xtremepower +80% globes, I've got them in two cars now, Mum's Festiva, my Fiesta and now going to get them in my Focus, does the whole light assembly have to come out of the car like in the Fiesta? That was a bit of a bastard, I wasn't too keen on taking out the assembly because once you take something off, it never seems to seal like it used to from factory, but thats how its designed. They made a massive increase in light intensity and throw on my Mum's Festiva and they're just halogens like any other globe, interested to take the Fiesta for a spin with them as they have pretty damn good lights from factory. Are the oil filters cartridge type filters? Or screw on ones like petrol engines? |

You only stop at each port for a few hours though, from like 8AM to 4pm so you don't have much tiem to do anything, but its worth it for the experience of the cruise ship, its like Crown Casino on the water. |

Picked up my new MKII LV Powershift, what a different car to the LT I traded. My problem is now I have to wait for the engine to run-in to get good fuel consumption.
I found you can't hurry the gearbox at all, you have to wait until you feel it engage before you hit the throttle. I had a huge bang when I went from reverse to drive, the car was still but the gearbox was in no hurry to pick the forward gear, I had got on the throttle a little too quickly. I got the Thunder colour, it is very nice in the sun. I am going to farkel it up a bit with chrome and stainless bits. The chrome on the front of the bonnet looks OK but needs a bit more to make it look right. The LV MKII is a lot quieter on the road than the LT, they seem to have tightened up the chassis a bit more. The problem is the build quality is a bit suss for the interior bits, it is OK though because the parts just need refitting. BTW, I can recommend Winford Motors at Mcgraths Hill. Best buying experience I have ever had with any car or bike I have ever purchased, just great Noel

I'm finding that the accelerator pedal seems to have a lot of "freeplay" compared to the Fiesta, you have to push it in further before it actually works. Makes it a bit tricky to get off the line with minimal throttle and without stalling it, I have to get used to it a bit more.
