For the ridiculous length of time it has taken for gt5 to appear it needs to whip forza 3 in every aspect. It won't do that, as a sim i would expect it to have better driving dynamics.

The F3 images released recently look sensational, love the V8 Supercars although the preview video of F3 looks a touch arcade. Hopefully it will play much more like a sim, reading some of the turn 10 media interviews they are referring to it as a sim.

One thing I've noticed with the GT series, and I'm sure people have as well, and it's one thing I've always wanted in a game...

Fair enough the stock cars you can drive in GT, handle/sound/behave much as you would imagine. Say the F6 phoon for instance in GT4.

You mod the suspension, it changes how the car handles, same goes for tyres, etc. You change the driveline, gearshifts, etc are different.

Why is it, when you mod it to 600hp+ it doesn't really behave like a 600hp car?
I want to mod a car in a game to have 600hp and behave like an animal. I want it to come on boost on straightaways and crab walk...Something that will make you be more mindful of throttle inputs, etc.

In GT4, all a modded car does, is spin the wheels in a straight line until a certain gear, then it's plain sailing.

Is it that hard!!!

try playing forza 2.. (and i assume 3)

If you mod a car to that extent, it will bite you.

BUT they need to make it playable for the people who dont have a great understanding of cars as well as the hardcore car nut

It is a sim, it has better physics and dynamics than installements of GT (including Prologue) in fact - which is a bone of contention with the GT crowd, might I tell you! They don't like being shown up! I moved from GTR2 & rFactor & GT to FM myself, but not after blindly writing the series off at first though before giving it a second chance.

And check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVzhkASVCQ0
These guys are the most unbiased hardcore sim nuts around, as you'll know if you see some of their other videos too.

Thanks for the link kamshaaft, suprised GT5 was a no show at the expo. A big fail going by the comments of ISR. They made a huge leap forward from FM2, those motion simulators are outstanding. If you have 10k+ that is.

That driving simulator machine in the review video is nothing compared to the set up a guy down here has.

Yeah 4 from each, you got s team vodaphone, FPR, SBR and fujitsu racing. from the holden side you got Toll, supercheap auto, gary rogers, and sprint gas racing.

But thats all good and well but unfortunately it's been confirmed that bathurst has been canned.

GT5 is becoming like Duke Nukem Forever, lets just hope the development doesn't drag on for 12 years, then the development team gets fired near completion. I know a game with a good level of customisation, no way near Grand Turismo on a technical side, but when it comes to tyre sizes, wheels, interior colours, seats, steering wheels, lowering and bodykits, Midnight Club LA is quite good.

Was almost gouing to give in and get an Xbox360 with the V8SC new, but the PS3 survives as V8SC with no aussie tracks is a waste of time IMHO.

GT5 has a realease date of feb 2010 when i checked last week and it looks like the WRC & NASCAR beasts are finally done so shouldn't be too much holding it back.

Here is the demo for anyone that's waiting.
Keep in mind you need a gold account.

Which if you haven't used all 3 or so of your free ones, you can just register a new 30day account for free.

aussie tracks for F3 will come later as a download, bathurst particularly. Look forward to seeing gt5 when it finally arrives.

Meh. Little disappointed but I'll probably have another crack at it in a day or two. Could feel the weight in the cars better which was an improvement over v2 but the physics made the cars feel like they were on rails even when you were pushing close to the edge and that was with all assists off.

Also have an early xbox so don't have HDMI so the incar was largely useless as the mirrors were barely visable. Will have to frig with the settings to try and improve things.

Forza is a sim that I'd love to see on PC so it could overcome some of the short comings that plague the 360 version.

Just played the demo, it's great, the graphics are much improved and the handling of the cars feel like a big improvement, and rollovers are cool aswell.

Pre-ordered the collectors edition today from EBgames, supposedly you get a download card if you preorder for a BMW of some sort. Looking forward to this game in a big way, especially with the V8's in it, me and the boy can go head to head with our fave drivers

Yeh I have been playing the demo too, graphics are much improved as is handling, I took a corner too hard while braking at entry and the mini 'squirmed' it was great the previous versions which i played for hours on end never did this it surprised me it was great, this game looks unbelievable! Can't wait!

I think a lot of people dont give this game a chance cos all the try hards crap on about it being a sim, but really it is a game anyone can play especially now and if u give it time it will ruin almost all other racers lol like cod4 riuned almost all other shooters for me.

I can't wait to go head to head with 2 commodores .. or is that head on, haha.

The demo wasn't too bad, some little things were a bit meh, but all in all should be a great game, can't wait for the collectors edition. Will be cool to re-paint the FG's into retro supercars like Marcos Ambrose's Pirtek falcon. That should help pass the time till march next year when Gran Turismo 5 comes out.

Also If anyone didn't know you can do a free run by yourself.

From their website:
"Note: To access the free run style Hotlap mode where you can race an unlimited number of laps without opponents, access the in-game Leaderboard by hitting “Y” at the track select screen. From here you can hit “A” at the top of the screen to begin a free run with the selected car!"

This game will stand the test of time for me for so many reasons i can't wait, just been playing again - wow this game is gonna rock, feels so wierd playing forza in cockpit view lol but they got that right too thank god.

A hint for people when you are in the expert difficulty setting - if you have the standard controller like me you need to change the gear change to 'manual' from 'manual with clutch' otherwise the gear changes arent pretty haha, i couldnt work out waht was wrong with my car rofl
