The oil issue you mention has been brought up several times, and I think some of the other complainants were hoping to whip it into an LS1 type scare. Its never happened, I dont deny you have a problem but these problems are isolated, time has proven that.
I do work with my dealer they are fantastic most of the time, they should as they are warrenty complaints. But on the oil issue they told me it'll be right and it'll stop by 15,oook's. Im now there and little change. The fact is oil consumption isn't a little problem, no oil = dead engine.

After waking up a little more and a slight nudge by a mod i just realized he wasn't pointing out my post. Sorry Red i thought you pointed post 24 out which is mine and calling me a sook.

Ppl puleasse cars are made by humans on a production line which is demanding an ever greater output.....cars are a mechanical device,if its mechanical something will go wrong,as for the production line things can and will get missed.

In regard to dealer servicing and with all the above ....yes quality control should be on top of it,but it comes down to attitude especially in the dealers case,if the employee is copping shit from foreman...is customer over the top with complaints of trivial nature that if the attitude was different would be fixed pronto.

Lets face it we are human and has been said before...talk calmly and logically and things will get done...go over the top and its reciprocated.

Mind this does not apply to difficult dealers who can be dealt with by other means.

i personally believe there are 2 kinds of people and NOT 2 kinds of car.
there are your perfectionists, who rightly so, expect a high quality level of their purchase.
they are spending their hard earned $$$ and in this day and age shouldnt be getting things like oil consumption, squeaky seats and all those little 'whinging' things.

then there are the 'couldnt really care' type of people who just buy it and dont give a stuff about squeaks, rattles and things like that.

my point really is that a car is a car, and people are not just people. we all have different levels of expectations of quality with the things we buy.

and lastly, yes, if people have bad experiences with cars they should tell others what they are so the buyer can look out for these things. if we all kept our mouth shut, the factory would never hear any public back lash and theyd just leave the quality as it is.
whod be better off then if the factory didnt need to pick up their game and deliver better quality products?

I reckon that a lot of faults of new cars could be attributed to the car not being run in properly regardless of performance. Any one who buys a new car and thrashes it off the show room floor should expect problems.

People who do serious mods and dont upgrade the other systems in their cars should expect problems. No point in cutting corners as doin this in the first place should save a lot more money than replacing stuffed parts as well as the inconvience that goes along with it.

i say cars should meet the standard they are marketed at , companies spend big dollars on marketing gurus to sell theyre products car makers employ them in house so if a car is marketed as say fpv say that theyr'e engine is every bit as techinical and refined as a $200, 000 car then so be it,if they say that a ba ford has been refined in nvh then thats what the customer should expect. as far as these statements go i'm not judging i'm simply stating that if car manufacturers state luxury comfort out performs competition etc etc than thats what a customer expects and the production line has to meet its sales pitch .otherwise people are being had.

SOOOOOOOO agree with you there... Its customer expectations and if these are met... I think that everycar has a certain reliability. Obviously, if i owned a Daihatsu i would expect more issues then a Ford, but i would still expect the Daihatsu to be driveable without major issues for at least 3 years...

If the car costs $50000 it should drive like a $50000 car should!
