Love it!
I only which my beloved Ford could grow a set of nuts and do this sort of thing. If ford were to build a GTHO this is how it should be, carbon fire, racing seats, no creature comforts, no radio, no power steer, no A/C. If I had the type of coin to afford it I'd buy this thing in a heartbeat, no different than the prototype XA GT phase 4s...when will it ever come up again? |

Chooka did buy it for big money at the end of the peak - and then went broke, and then the car was 'nearly' bought by Andrew Bogut (Aussie NBA star) but even he walked once it got over $350k. The difficulty will be - if it was publicly sold for approx $375k - and now the car is exactly the same, in a weaker market, and the asking price has tripled? No Sale. Why would you? I get that it was a Factory big block concept car - no doubt. But it lacks the appeal that some of the other modern muscle that is out there. Sure it's rarer than a W427 - but at least you can drive that on the street daily (if you wanted to) and you'd have about $900k change. With $1,000,000 a Holden fan could stock his garage with this as an alternative: 1) HT / HG / HK GTS Monaro (lets say $100,000) 2) LC / LJ Xu1 (lets say $60,000) 3) HQ GTS 350 (lets say $70,000) 4) LX A9X Torana Hatch (lets say $125,000) 5) VC HDT/Brock Commodore (lets say $40,000) 6) VK Group A SS (lets say $70,000) 7) VL Walky (lets say $70,000) 8) VN Group A SS (lets say $50,000) 9) HSV GTS Monaro (lets say $60,000) 10) HSV W427 (lets say $100,000) And with the $250,000 change - you could insure them properly, and build a very nice big 'secure' shed to house them with to enjoy....... But hey - you could buy that red 427 thing too.... If you wanted to! I know which way I'd go........

A GTHO simply needs to be in a class of its own, full size V8 Falcon, light weight weekend track car is in a class of it's own. |

Also word is in that one it's not even an LS7. Looks like a VT-VY gts motor with a twin intake pipe.

The 427C was never an LS7 - that's a Gen4 motor. This used the Corvette C5R engine which was based on the Gen3 LS1 and LS6.

I thought about that one too and also the GT-P but the GT RSpec does not have the big brakes etc. standard nor is its interior derived from the G6 and as the focus was "stripped down" and the GTHO was not I chose the GT-E, GT-P then RSpec in order of most accurate lineage.
The GTHO was not just a GT with a more powerful engine. |

the 900K is all a non-event.
Chances are, the Bloke selling it had a dud account, and placed the bid himself to attract attention, the bid was removed. The car was never sold, and the Ebay listing removed.

Listing has been removed so I think it might have been a dodgy listing

This popped up on streetcommodores as well...and they ridiculed the price too. Its ridiculous, that price tag could get you a Ferrari, Lamborghini, AMG, Aston Martin, Pagani etc. Why would anyone buY what basically looks like a stock MOnaro with ugly wheels and Supercheap Auto bonnet vents? It doesn't even have all the gear either.
Imagine having to explain to your mates you paid a million dollars for a Commodore... |

I thought the 427C never actually got to the point of being put to sale, and therefore not complianced etc so would it even be registerable or simply one of the worlds most expensive factory track cars.

Slightly off topic, just looking at a BF Cobra for sale in the sales yard, do you think the owners of said cars would be slightly peeved off if they had known what was around the corner with the 335 ? As an investment, to me, if they were desirable by a purchaser, would he /she have second thoughts re the purchase ? I took one look at the car and thought great looking car, and then thought how nice it would of been attatched to a 335...........
