GT Rspec police special build 150 with just an exhaust and tune was good for 406 RWKW allow for 20% in losses through the drive train and that's 500 FWKW .
I really don't see this as at GT killer and at 95K it makes the GT look cheap.
I'm guessing this will still be a push rod tractor engine too , hardly high tech

The bias is sickening, isn't it?

Hopefully most people reading the article will spot the obvious, in that the FPV (note JD disrespectfully referred to it as a Ford Falcon) is the real bargain here for this niche group, delivering the same performance for $30k less than the HSV.

Yet the HSV was painted as being some sort of bargain against the European 'competition'.

Again, this looks like another marketing exercise orchestrated by Holden.
One may wonder what's in it for the press, when reading articles like this, which seem to be nothing more than 'advertorials'.

Oh great. I can see all the Holden rednecks now, boasting about it, rambling on the way they did with the Walkingforsure427. Just like I get told repeatedly that a 325kW e3 gts is quicker tthan my 315 GS cause the badge says so.

Ford needs to pull their finger out and rebadge the FPVs to their accurate figures, rain on holdens parade

We'll see if it happens. Didn't they also say that the SS was going to get the LS3 out of the clubsport and that the entire HSV range was going to be supercharged ?

Great news for performance fans, sure it won't be quicker than an E63 or M5 or Flying Spur etc. but good luck to the brand.

It's sad that they can only make that figure on a 6.2l capacity. Our 5.0l would have similar engine kw, for 1.2l smaller. My GS was 411rwhp stock, how many fwkw would that roughly equal?

Some of the figures don't match..100 kws more, stacks more torque, about the same weight..0~100 kms about the same !!??!!??. Yet a little tuning to a GT closer to 4.0 sec to 100! Something doesn't make sense..

Having a bit of a chuckle reading all the negative comments on here, when the FPV subforum on this same site has endless threads begging Ford to do the very same thing i.e. create a GTHO, up the boost, fix the suspension etc. C'mon fellas, be fair.

Styling isn't exactly my cup of tea, but good on HSV for doing it (assuming its the real deal of course). As others have said, these really are glory days for local performance sedans, but there's a more than even chance its the last yelp. In 10 years time we may have a thread on AFF titled "Remember When..." that's chock full of throwbacks to when you could buy an Aussie Falcon. With a Supercharged V8. And rear wheel drive. We'll all be immersed in teary-eyed nostalgia about it.

Be it an HSV, an FPV or Falcon or whatever, it doesn't matter. Just enjoy it because it won't last forever.

It would seem FPV understate their power figures, while HSV inversely overstate theirs.

Adding to that, I don't think too many buyers who are in the market for a high-performance Mercedes Benz or BMW will be likely to do the same.

Yet HSV keep pushing the downsell idea for 'potential European buyers', when their true market lies in upselling Commodores.

Just a reminder that the car hasn't been OFFICIALLY unveiled yet.

SO...power figure maybe correct BUT is still speculation. 0-100, 1/4 mile etc times have not been tested.

i'd say it'd make a hell of a lot more money per unit than base model commodores. Dont forget every red-head that wants it but can't afford one will settle for an SS. That's the whole point of the GTS (and the Falcon GT for Ford).

This article was also in todays Herald-Sun Cars "Guide", as a cover story with a double spread article inside.

As mentioned, the photos are impressions only, with no definite performance etc. specifications provided. There are still months to come before it is released.

Yet late last year I looked and took note each week when the FPV GT R-Spec was released, the fastest Aussie built production car on the road then and even now, and there was no mention of it at all in Cars "Guide", not even a whisper, let alone a road test report. Funny also they don't mention the R-Spec in todays' article either. To them it seems it doesn't exist.

Hows that for a publication purported to not being biased at all?

I wouldnt read to much into it all yet. We all know FPV and Ford under rate their badges and Holden are the opposite. I did a 325 clubby last week and the owner was quite disappointed with only 240 odd KWs actually being delivered to the rear wheels. With 2k spent on a tune and intake he got to only 260.

Am I right in thinking that the 'officially publicised' 0-100 time for the GT R-Spec was achieved by a journalist in a manual car? Has anyone put an auto R-Spec against the clock to find out if it dips under 4.5 seconds?

I wonder how accurate the Artists impression is. It looks very plain which is at odds with what Holden has been doing over the last decade.

Yeah I agree it's ugly but then so is the FG GT.

So will Ford roll out a GTHO in response?

really?

ford releases a hi po supercharged v8 some time ago now, and also have the R spec and yet its still seen as never enough.

holden release a rumour and suddenly the drool is making quite a puddle again on a FORD forum no less.

the market for these cars is miniscule at best. it is essentially a modified commodore. no euro buyer in the market for a AMG or BMW M, or porsche etc will ever look at a commodore.
