Altona District Bingo Champion 2014 sticker, with a tactical bowlers hat on the parcel shelf, wear a beige cardigan with number plates "Nono 42".

Why only 2 KW increase? Is that 2KW at idle or at 6000 RPM where that car will never see lol?

I bet the 500 people who bought the GT-F are spewing and will want to trade them in for this as soon as they can.

I also heard the power increase can be stretched to 3 KW if you drive it downhill with a tail wind and turn off the A/C.

Reminds me of the Mitsubishi Magna TP Elante. Nothing more than a badge and spoiler upgrade. Couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding

The bad news is that this will spark a new supercar scare like back in the early 70's
The extra 2 KW will cause outrage with journalists and the public.
What will happen when young drivers get hold of this car in 10 years time?
What about the carnage on the roads.
All production of high performance cars must now cease.

Thanks Toyota. You had to do it, didn't you.

Well they apparently engineered a local camry from 2002-2006 which looked exactly the same as the overseas model which was just as durable (or was it all just marketing spin about the australian designed Toyota Modular Platform), and also mounted 1992 USDM Avalon bodywork on that platform as a 2000-2005 Avalon. They should have just imported the Toyota Chaser or Crown from Japan and called it a day.

What have they been putting in the water at Toyota??

That's actually not a bad looking car. When the new Corolla came out it looked amazing, very different to the bland stodge that they'd been for years before that.

I think the 86 has woken up Toyota a bit.

With minimum effort they have created a new buyer segment for their successful appliance-like car. It's kind of like seeing a base Corolla with a rear spoiler and the driver going 10 km/h under the limit everywhere. Really means little but will get sales.

I still say they should engineer a larger 4-door from their 86 platform and fit a Landcruiser V8 or something.

I think people are massively overestimating how many new car buyers give five eighths of bugger all about 0-100 times, quarter mile runs, and how much power a car has.
When we bought the G6E, I asked to look under the bonnet, and the salesman (at a large Ford dealership) thought for a moment and said he thought that I was the first person in a couple of months who even asked to look under the bonnet of a potential new purchase. Most people never get beyond asking "how many cylinders?", "auto or manual?", and "petrol or diesel?"...and that's about it for the mechanical side of things.

Clogged badly maintained roads, increasing police presence shaving narrower and narrower margins as to what is "acceptable" behaviour, and cameras everywhere...not really surprising...

Nah, the Avalon is too upmarket for them.

Even some of our indian friends joke about the camry lust their countrymen have

Sure to us this is a bit of a distinction with not much of a difference because we judge sports models from the base a lot harshly.

But your average punter might say it looks a bit better than the base and that is enough for them.

Shame they couldn't put a Aurion engine in the Camry for a sports model.

Don't go there...Aurion owners are very particular about what they own...its defiantly not a V6 (big block?) Camry

Not my cup of tea, but at least Toyota Australia have some presence and admittedly have a really good marketing team.

Ford on the other hand don't advertise any of the Falcon line, nor the FPV stuff.... and then wonder why sales have dropped immensely.

Saw one of these the other day on the road... Looked sensational.

I thought it had about as much road presence as the hsv GTS ... More road presence than our fpv cars..

The driver looked all smug and badass as we'll. if there was an aurion version, I might buy
