Depending on what the faults were they can either rule it out, take that into account if not fixed (knock off the price), or confirm has been fixed (perhaps not accepting a receipt from UltraTune Blackburn as proof of the fix).

Very keen on hearing how this pans out. The dealership should have their licence revoked. Though seeing how this world works, some money may change hands and a light slap on the wrist for the dealership. The dealership will blame some employee (fall guy), then it's business as usual.

Following my email, Ultra Tune were rather prompt in getting in touch with me. I just got off the phone with the national customer service and she advised me of the following:

- The Ultra Tune Blackburn franchise was shut down by head office in Oct '16 due to poor service issues.
- According to their records (on rego plate reference) that particular vehicle has never been serviced by any Ultra Tune franchise.
- The stamp in the book is not one of their standard issue stamps, as used at all Ultra Tune workshops.
- In her opinion, the logbook has definitely been fabricated.
- The fact that the particular Ultra Tune workshop in the stamp is closed down and the wrong number listed is perhaps intended to create confusion when attempting to track down further info or clarification.
- She also noted the stamped phone number as a similar number to another franchise in Sydney.
- They have referred the matter to their legal team. However, in all likelihood there is not much they can do and any efforts on their part may incur unreasonable costs

Some good investigative work here folks, but at the end of the day, the dealer is just going to say 'that's how we got it when it was traded'...

Then it becomes a he said / she said situation and someone has to prove that they stamped it...(not doubting Scud).

Unless someone can find the dodgy stamp on the premises (which I assume would be a police matter & a search warrant required), I don't think anything will happen (unfortunately).

Good on ya Scud for raising your concerns - at least a few on here now know where not to buy their next car.

Unfortunately not, i owned the car for over 6 years and bought it with only 60k on the clock.
Thanks for the links ill check them out later.

If nothing comes of this atleast its out there for people to see. Just have to wait for consumer affairs to reply.

Everyone on this website should send an esquire though car sales asking about the service history. They will get the hint quickly or just dig themselves deeper.
I can't stand dodgy dealers. Makes you wonder how many thousands of people they mislead for every one that is caught out.

The new logbook came from coffee ford (from memory) the origanal dealer of the car so there is atleast one service from them, i cant remember if the orignal owners details were then filled in by them or left blank sorry...

Yeah I have heard they pay some sort of fee to Carsales when you contact through the website. That's why some dealers try to get their phone number or business name in the background of a car photo.
If they are ripping people off for who knows how much, I don't feel sorry for them paying carsales for an inquiry.

i use to work at officeworks, that stamp is a kit you buy so you can make it look like anything you want.

who knows what else they have sold like this.

put them under the bus, you have nothing to be scared about.

Seriously, they cannot be allowed to get away with this. I hope you push this as far as you can mate. I know I would. I'm furious sitting here reading this. If if was me in your position, I'd be in a bloody rage!!

How often must they be doing this! Completely illegal and more importantly, ripping off completely innocent customers, who're handing over their hard earned cash.

This REALLY ****s me....complete effing scum.

And yes, I'd also be contacting someone like Today Tonight. This is exactly what they love to deal with.

Well that's interesting, Ultratune opening up new franchise right near me.

I remember quite a few years ago they (one franchise) in Sydney were busted for dodgy stuff, was big news on the idiot box, something about oil I think it was.

Doesn't sound to me like UltraTune have done anything wrong or are in any way involved here though - in fact they have been quite forthcoming with info to help uncover the scam
