Default Snapshots from GOLD COAST INDY 2006

For those that miss out on this event here are some shots I have taken so far. I am pumped and excited, jumping around like a girl and still getting used to my camera, so apologies for the cut-offs and a bit of blurr...

Sorry about the metal barriers in the way of lots of the photos, great watching from our grandstand but the photos from there are not the greatest.

For those wanting to read and see photos of our experience on track and with the drivers check out these threads...

Just got back from the Indy car drivers parade. I had a ball And this time I had more of an opportunity to take some pic's while we were in the pits...

Oh No.. I got a ticket for creating a distraction.. The cop thought my ute look too hot..

While we were in the pit I got to chatting to some locals, her name is Haley and come from the Albury Wodonga

and also got the chance to do some innocent bird watching

Then there was the indy cars..

What's his name..

My driver was A J Allmendinger.. And his future wife

Finally the View from inside my ute.. settle down now guys

I will be back next year for sure.....

Nice indeed.
Good to see no Fords were hurt ... only damaged Holdens

Would have been an awesome experience to be a part of the driver's parade.
Nice photos too everyone.

Yeah mate, he is. He stated that next time he see's me, the ute must be fitted with a 200 shot NOS system,, or he will throw the book at me...LOL...

Thruth is he use to be on the Hoon squad. Now he is on the bike.. I did not get his name but he was a nice enough copper.. He was telling me about what sort of car they target (ricer's) and what he has seen (mods) there was one falcon ute with twin V7 vortex superchargers with Nitro.. I then ask him if I could take a pic of him writing up a ticket for the ute (pretending only).. I tell what tho,, our escorts were fantastic.. They realy pushed us along through the traffic.. stuff we were doing infront of the coppers would normaly see your car impounded along with a big fine.. we wern't doing burn outs of the sort.. but when we got big cheer from the pedestrians (on the way to the track) most of us would give the ute a huge free rev.. I personaly let one go to 6000k with the copper 2 cars behind me.....

Now the boots..LOL....
I had just finished work and I had left my good shoes at home.. So it was the boots or bear feet.... My question is tho.. Who bloody well takes photo's with feet left in the pictures.... Gord, I don't know

Great photos Jabba, bird watching... well i have a photo of Russell Ingall's crotch if anyone is interested!! LOL Taking photos of the parade behind out the rear window...russell in the way, but it is also cool because you can see his name on the belt part. I have more photos of Jabba from the Sunday parade, but they suck.

We decided to give our spot to another very keen Ford driver (the other blue one in the photo above) for the Sunday Champ Car Driver Parade because we wanted to enjoy Indy and use our grandstand seats and get to walk around instead of waiting 3 or 4 hours to drive around the track once with a guy we dont know in the back.

XR8fella, that is tops!! I have to wait to see my parents who recorded it with dvd recorder instead of our poxy VCR, then i can get more stills from the footage.

Trying to get in touch with IndyFMTV to see if they record...try to get their footage of the whole parade.

To answer the question about how to get involved.

1. Own ute
2. Have work done on ute, a bog standard Falcon off the assembly line will not impress the people in step 3 or 4 to put you on the Indy track instead of someone else, lots of people want to, only 15 or so Fords will get the chance.
3. Go to Southport Exhaust, spend money, Wayne makes a judgement on your car and decides if you are worthy!!lol Then he will ring the bossman Brad.
4. If you do not complete step 3 enter Street Torque, your other best bet.
5. Superutes.com
6. Pray (or whatever your religion/nonreligion does to hope for) that utes will be used again next year instead of corvettes.
7. Wash ute
8. Remove tonneau cover

One thing that annoyed me about the Indy drivers parade was that they allowed Holden utes to enter. Indy cars are all powered by Ford engines, with the total backing of Ford Racing. Why they allowed competitors cars to drive them around is beyond me, it should have been Ford utes only.

By the way GCChcik, how did you get your lights to flash the way they did? Or can you point me in the right direction so as not to hijack this thread?

Mate the parade was to also show case the Aussie Icon, "the ute".. No where in the world have people or tradesmen taken to the ute like Australian's.. We love our utes with passion and we want to show the world what the ute is all about.. A work truck during the week, and a sport coupe on the weekend.... Realy who cares if there was a Holden on the track for the parade.. friendly rivaly is a good.. But don't let the Ford V's Holden rivaly consume your life...

They are the indicators. So all we had to do was switch the Hazzard lights button. Abra-cadabra flashing lights! :P :

I want to get the awsome flashing lights like the Mustangs that drive around the track have...but i think the ute draws enough attention without a set of christmas tree lights on it!

No danger of that, just suprised a Ford Racing series would allow a competitors ute to drive around their drivers. They are usually pretty strict with things like that.
