Yes, the Poms do it well, I suppose they've had many centuries of practise.

Watched most of it with the wife, just wow what a process and planning.
I'm sure HRH made sure the agenda was as we saw and befitting to her devoted service over all that time...........
I was wondering what was going through her children and grand childrens minds at times.
Harry and the wife for eg what has become, what goes through his mind, brothers William Harry on such different wave lengths.
Andrew, what he's done.
Watching the emotional out pouring of such a Matriarch one wonders whats to become of them all.
May she RIP, I thought it was nice thinking she was with Philip now and her parents.

The whole week has been filled with pageantry as only the British seem to be able to do.

Usually starts the day before as well so they can catch all the early runners

Just drove past an accident scene, with 2 cloths draped over two bodies. Hits you like a tonne of bricks. It's a clear sunny day, kids are on school holidays, long weekend coming, people do silly things. Maybe it's not too bad an idea....the demerit not the fine that is.
Surprised Vic doesn't have the said rule for public holidays.

The public holiday feels odd, sort of as though it’s missing some focal element like a dawn service or other gathering. I considered an early visit to the Man-O-War steps, then remembered it’s completely changed from when HRH first stepped ashore in 1954.

Would be nice to have a quiet day reflecting on what the Commonwealth of Australia has now become, but not sure where that quietude may be found - we are seemingly at a point where people feel a need to validate themselves with bustle and noise.

I think the public holiday today was not a good idea; if people want to reflect they don't need a holiday to do it.

I feel the same way about the public holiday in Victoria tomorrow, which Daniel Andrews introduced several years ago. (Maybe it's only for Melbourne?) It is supposedly about making it easier for people go to the Grand Final parade on the Friday before the GF.

I'm no business person; never have run a business and wouldn't know how to, but this week (in Vic.) there are two days of productivity lost to many, many businesses.

I'm on my way back from marlo to home today, and, judging by the amount of boats, caravans, four wheel drives, surfboards atop vehicles, etc, heading in the opposite direction many down this way are 'reflecting' by making their way to a favourite holiday location and making the most of the four day weekend.

Stopping in at Lakes (Entrance) on our way home: expecting to find it packed.

Beautiful weather today, which may be luring some in on the concept, but we are expecting a wet week ahead, starting tomorrow.

Choosing today for a PH was nothing more than creating a 4day weekend for many (its official now, they wouldve taken Fri off anyway). Monday just gone made the most sense.

Long weekends, PH make no difference to me either. After all Queen Elizabeth did the same for years on end.

Was lucky to remember yesterday to do a last minute quarry run before they closed for 4 days.

Protocol had to be today, the day the GG and PM landed after attending the funeral.

Stopped in at Lakes on the way home on Thursday, and just as I suspected, it was packed. Did not see one accommodation place that had a vacancy sign.

OT: did the entrance walk which I've been meaning to do for years. It's about 5km round trip. We did the dune walk to the entrance, then walked along the beach on the way back.

Was a beautiful day for it. Sea was very calm, with lots of boats offshore. A lot wee coming back in tho, and then we noticed why. A bank of sea fog came rolling in shortly afterwards. And that was around 1pm.

After the walk, we needed to top up the fuel reserves. Daughter had the jams and cream and I had the kit kat.

So much for the Topic of "RIP Queen Elizabeth II" don't see much homage being posted as of late as one would expect.

RIP Queen Elizabeth.

We were at Australia Zoo in QLD on the PH, they played a video of the Queen to celebrate her lift - was a good move on their part
