Did anybody see Gasolene last night? Ford does NOT own the rights to the "HO" name anymore, they cant use it unless they buy it back!

I reckon these upgrades should have come on the mk.II but, if the upgrades are enough to warrant it, I reckon FPV GT Phase V

I vote for GT351 - the badge markets itself, and lord knows it will need to 'cause Ford/FPV marketing is hopeless (though the pumping of the recent FPV GT ads is noted & welcome).

As a few of you said, Ford is very average at marketing the brand. I vote for the badge GT351 - Self marketing.

I'd prefer GT R-Spec, GT-5.0, GT-351. GT-H just doesn't mean anything to me. (Having put down a deposit for a Black/Red one I wouldn't mind if they did call it GT-HO!!)

I voted for the GT-H, but if it has a higher engine output I would except it as the GT-HO. It would sell better with the GT-HO badge.

FPV should use anything and any name in its arsenal to sell more cars and the GTHO is no exception.
Has me scratching my head as to why they feel like they cant use it...are they afraid of offending XW/XY owners? the publicity alone would be HUGE !! and they would sell them out in a heartbeat.

Now that anto has mentioned it...imagine having the GTHO name re-released. If FPV would pump advertising, the word of mouth would/should be crazy!?
"Hey Bob, did you hear theres a new GTHO!!" "Really? Holy crap, i gotta check this out!" If this car is bonkers, then perhaps now is the right time to go all out with it. No going out with a bang here, just re ignite the fire! Maybe that will work out well??? Maybe???

They won't use HO. And with good reason.
R spec sounds so ricey and ghey. GTH is pretty good. Close enough link to HO with out the possibility of degrading it. GT KR. King of the road? |

and 2- it could never truly live up to the legend could it. The Ph3 is on a pedestal so high no model Ford could ever build could come close to reaching it could they? It will be scrutinized so fiercely that unless they come up with the greatest 4 door muscle car ever built it will never be good enough. How can you compete with that. Its a no win situation. And the story about Ford not owning the GTHO name is more than likely someone getting their wires crossed. Its the GT40 name that Ford do not own the rights too, hence why the Ford GT supercar was never called GT40 like they wanted it too. |

I dont think it needs a new name, and i believe HO should be left to history.
How about FG GT and offer it as RPO83 limited edition. GT-RPO83 |

Di the BA re-introduction of the GT as a regular model devalue the GT name, and any previous cars under the GT name? Or has it re-vamped the spirit behind it? When you consider the FTE cars, with TS and TE, and the fact that they did little to capture the emotion associated with the GT. Just have a look at how the BA GT gave Ford fans something to believe in and stand behind. The basis of "HO", and how it's name can be ruined seems to stem from only two facts, a new version most likely wont be a Homologation model, nor the fastest 4 door in the world. But, the name "GT" it's self, was in fact used to describe Falcons built to homologate the car for bathurst, until that became the HO's job. Does a modern day HO need to live up to a "phase" or, should it just be a symbol of high performance, a GT but more spicy... Some people think that the GT name is already watered down by the GT-P and GT-E variants, so adding another random letter is only going to dilute the GT name even more. Have a look at what Ford have done with the mustang, rebirthing iconic names such as Boss, Mach 1 and the GT350 and GT500...

no offense intended Bossxr8 as I do value your contribution to these forums, though truth be told I am still not getting how it could devalue the original name... , do they owe something to the enthusiasts that own these cotton wooled investment cars ? It would be a marketing boon at this point , with a track oriented tickle up as has been suggested and possibly slightly more power, itd not too disimilar to what the original HO's were compared to the standard GT's. I think we need some perspective here. Its is what it is , I still maintain that as a business you would expect them to use all means necessary to sell the product and help generate excitement around the brand, just in pragmatic terms. anyway, what is that they say about opinions...

Who said? I don't beleive there is anything stopping anyone running a GT (or a GT-HO) in the PTCC/AMC, under the Group E regulations...the same regulations that the Phase 3 ran under...

Dont stuff about and just call it a GTHO. Whats the point of making new names?
All other car makers keep their model names. The older HOs will always be classics no matter what happens now. Its a modified GT it makes sense. |
