Hmmm.....a bit of a giggle is one thing, but didn't take long for some forum members to jump on the old "stuff 'em because they have a flash car" bandwagon. I'm with Flappist on this one. That Maserati was probably somebody's pride & joy just like any of us here who have our own pride and joy in the form of a Ford or FPV whatever.

I don't know how many of you have had your car stolen or vandalised (I have) but I tell you what, when it happens, you lose your sense of humour in double quick time, and you'd kill the ***** who did it if you had half a chance.

Love your work Mr. Forklift driver. Tese people think they are above the law with this kind of stuff (the woman, not the forkie). Im gunna side withe the forklift driver on this one.
But in saying that, I do believe he has done wrong and should foot the bill. Or maybe half, because she was breaking the law. Still like his work though.

I don't know what anyone siding with the forklift moron is thinking but destroying hundreds of thousands of dollars of someone else's property is just a tad worse than parking illegally don't ya think?

Locals also said they had been moving other people's cars as they pleased with the forklift. In case you didn't know this is not a recommended way to move a vehicle. Damaging other people's property for your own convenience is a crime.

What a contradiction if I ever saw one - umm the forkie also obviously thinks he is above the law too judging by his actions....

And what do you mean by "these people"? Someone who owns a nice car thinks they are above the law? Tall poppy syndrome I think...

Lets put this in reality. Someone parked in a construction zone on THEIR street. The offence is hardly criminal behaviour - in fact it is probably a $60 fine to local council. The actions of the forklift driver are criminal in their nature and are hardly "equal" to those of the woman.

Obviously the forkie did think he was above the law because he took it into his own hands.

Now he is going to be a lot of dollars out of pocket or I think he could get bankrupted (don't quote me on that) all for sake of a small moment of not thinking.

Do you really think the revenue raisers wouldn't of been out there in a flash if they knew about it?

Or even better, if you are in the right lane and I want to pass I can just fire a few shots through your window to make you wake up.

The forklift driver has destroyed private property. He should be held accountable for it both criminally and civilly.
Jeez thats a bit extreme!!! :gren:
but i like it

Both are screwed and it will probably end up in court... Yaddi Yadda and she wont get the car replaced by the company for another couple of years either!

Everyone talks about "those" sort of people, are you talking about people who have done well for themselves or people who park illegally? A 1999 Maserati is only worth around 90k so its not that far removed in terms of cost to an FPV.

I dont condone what he done was right, and Dont go quoting from my first post, as I already said I wasnt thinking before I posted (I hadnt had beer all day).

What sort of a half wit picks up someine elses car with a forklift on the street? I hope he loses his job and same to whoever suggested it to him (surely he couldn't have done it off his own bat). I would be exploding if it were my car - regardless of what it is.

Here's a photo of the maserati right way up - it's hard to believe it only rolled - looks like the construction company had a disco on it later on

That fork driver needs to be hung by his nuts, i agree the car shouldnt have been parked there but he had no right to move it wit the forklift imagine if it were your car (not that any AFF member would be stupid enuff to park their car there?..... would they?) and i agree towed away fair enuff but not lifted up then dropped although that probably wasnt his intentions

I seriously hope you are joking.

Aussie and Yank V8's sound good, but they dont rev anywhere near the Ferrari donks. I nearly fell over when a 3200GT floored it passed me one day.

Yes I know the fezzas dont make as much power but so what.

Yes we should blame the worker because it not her fault where she parked. They were moving cars with a forklift illegally, so in another word it against the law. The contruction site is on a small surburban street were homeowner have there cars on the street. No one illegally parking there nor are there any warning sign to say you can't park there.

So for all of you blame the maserati and sexy female driver for parking in the wrong place, well she didn't park in the wrong place, infact she done nothing wrong. So stop your jealously dumb quote cause we all wish to have a car like one day (and maybe a lady friend like her too), don't we.

Don't enven bother flaming me. My 2c worth!!!

A bit of commonsence would have been nice by both parties in this case. Even if she had just moved into the street surely she would have noticed the construction site and the signs. Mabye she had parked there before and hadn't move it till hours after 7AM! Mabye they were ****ed off with it being in the way all the time.
As stated in the story it was just after 7AM,so why didn't they give her some time to move it. Seems more to this than what is reported!!
Just another thought, why did the forkie have the car 2 MTS off the ground. You think he would have lifted it just enough to move it.
Mabye his previous job was working at a wrecking yard!!! :

parked illegally or not what sort of idiot would pick someones car up with a fork? the blades are going to damage the under carriage no matter how carefull you are. if it was my car i would pull his head off and shove it up something, and im sure most of you that think its funny would react the same as me if it was your car.

My Maserati does 185 (MPH!)
I lost my license, now I don't drive.
I have a limo, I ride in the back.
I lock the doors in case I'm attacked.
Life's been good to me so far....

Maybe that fork lift driver should get some tips form the guys at Pick n Payless in how to move cars around. Some how I think he will be seeking alternative employment after this.

My sister lives in Zug, one of the richest towns in Switzerland. They have a Ferrari/Maserati dealer there and only the Ferraris make it into the showroom. The Maseratis get left out on the footpath overnight.
She doesn't drive because her husband owns a manual and she can't drive one.

I blame both the sister and the construction worker - both are in the wrong. I'm guessing the forky was having an extremely bad day so when he saw the car he just snapped. :

I just wonder how many people here would be laughing if it was their car? Not too many I would think.

Doing everyone a favour by lifting it allegedly 2M in the air, I don't think so. He was being a DH, illegally parked or not & got caught out.

FW, sue the forkie's ar~e.

i dont really give a **** who says the forkie should cop a bullet for what he did, the fact remains that this spoilt little rich ***** parked her brothers maserati in a restricted parking zone and failed to remove it by the required time

if she really wanted to keep the damned car safe, it would be locked up safely in a garage, not left on the bloody street

not too sure on the technicalities of it all, but i know when i was working on a road crew, any section of the road we had signposted as being a roadworks zone was classed as our work site, speed limits, seatbelts, etc didnt apply (or at least the cops couldnt book us for doing 100+ in a 40 zone with no seatbelts on) we ultimately had right of way, regardless of what the road rules say....

might be the same at that site, but i think the street itself would be a grey area
